Ok theory on this possible "youth" driven JL cast...

Guard,

read my post about "noble dignity" and "sobriety of bearing" and gravitas. i think you completely missed my point by a wide side of a barn.

So lets say these 27-28 year olds got cast.... When the 3rd JL movie comes out, they are what? 35 years old? That would be perfect.... There are not many franchises out there that the 3rd movie are usually the best....

It is way to early to be talking a second film, let alone a third.

Well they can't possiably be going to young with Common reading for GL, cause if he's like 35 or 36.

Guard,

I did read your post. I didn't quote it, so clearly I wasn't only referencing your thoughts. I'm not sure I can make the call on their "gravitas" as I haven't seen them play DC comic book heroes. I've seen them play teenagers on a TV show, which they seem to be capable at. But if WB or George Miller sees something in them, they must have something to bring to the table. I would imagine if they were cast, they'd have to have shown some kind of screen presence.

Don't forget, this is still just a rumor.

It's just my personal opinion, but I think doing the film as a group of young heroes "just starting out" in their careers is a big mistake! Isn't that what they did in Smallville? :csad:
I hate to be negative on this as I'm a big DC fan, and love the JL, but the more I hear of this project the more worried i'm getting - let's face it, if this film sucks it'll ruin any chance of us ever seeing a Flash, GL or Wonder Woman film for a long, long time!
The JL is a fantastic team, but I just can't see a 2 or even 3 hour film doing them justice - for the movie going public in general they're gonna have to establish who each character is before they get into any kind of plot... I think it'd have been much better to have been done is a similar style to 'Heroes', as a big budget, TV series - each character could have then been developed over weeks, until they all come together to form the league.

ok:

DJ Cotrona is 27
Minka Kelly is 27
Scott Porter is 28
Adam Brody is 27

These are the people being considered, everyone else just tried out. Brandon Routh is 28 too, same age as Porter. People are seriously overreacting. these people are NOT that young. 27 is not a bad age to play these a superheroes

They could be 50 for all I care. They look like teenagers. Christopher Reeve was 25 in Superman The Movie, but he still looked like a man in his 30's.

Cast someone who looks like men, not whosses my 7 year old son could give a real spanking. :ninja:

Dammit I was hoping for an older Batman as the leader of the group!

Wonder Woman is supposed to look ageless (of course she's immortal), but she should still look like a woman
there was a maturity about Routh that was already obvious right from the day that his casting came out. i'm not seeing it in any of these fellows.
i'm not saying that these guys cant act their age or older, its just that i notice that with each new round of casting, the selection pool keeps getting younger and younger.
i meant by gravitas as having a "noble dignity" or "sobriety of bearing". Reeve was born with this, you can see it even from his pre-Superman photos. Routh had it too, but it needed to develop (which it did to what we see today). with these kids, i'm not sensing it. theres nothing about them that feels "one of a kind", not like what we sense-- and saw-- in Reeve and later in Bale. do you get what i'm saying?

I'm still gonna disagree, even with things as intangible as noble dignity or sobriety of bearing as you put it, any good actor should be able to bring that across. You say Routh had to develop it, well maybe Reeve did too, not many of us are old enough to have been on the scene questioning the casting choice then. We grew up with him so he always seemed to have "it."

You can't reduce a director and casting director's choice to something as intangible as the above stated before even seeing reel 1 of the film. Nobility, gravitas, dignity, all things an actor should be able to portray, we are looking back at Reeve having it thru years of romanticizing the sweating and nervous youth on the Donner set.

JLA: The Musical

Featuring music from Justin Timberlake, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Brooke Hogan and Idol sensation: Sanjaya. . . .:cmad:

well its different times. today a 25 men looks very different then a guy in the 70's.
routh looks young. but he doesnt looks very young. bale is a badass.those actors look like they were on teenage tv shows.

Bale looks mature. He looks like a man.

Teenage talkshow? Don't make me laugh :P

There are tons of actors looking like they are over 30. People with more masculine look. Josh Holloway for example, would make a nice Aquaman:

Pushing 40, but still looks like a 30-year old masculine man.

But by the looks of these rumors (but doubt they are for real) they are looking for male actors 25-30 years old that looks like their 20. It's not Dawsons Creek we are trying to cast, but Justice League.

Screw how young they look, who do you guys think they auditioned for I think Adam Brody may have auditioned for superman. If he were cast they would throw him in the gym for weeks. Mary elizabeth winstead of course auditioned for the role of Wonder woman, D.J. Cotrona probably auditioned for Batman, Scott Porter might have auditioned for Aquaman, Max Thieriot probably auditioned for the Flash

Adam Brody would make an ok Flash. Can't see him auditioning for any other part. No way in hell is that guy auiditioning for Supes. They would need to exchange the boots with high heels ^^

adam brody was 200% for flash. noooooooooooo way for superman or batman.
there is a bigger chance that adam brody was there for wonder women then for superman.

Yeah, cos Adam Brody looks just like blond haired forensic scientist Barry Allen doesn't he? I'm just worried now they're gonna screw around with the origins and back stories of the characters too.
Superman didn't appear till Clark moved to Metropolis and become a newspaper journalist - how many journalist do you think are in their early twenties?
Bruce Wayne travelled the world to learn to become Batman - that took time. Hal Jordan was a test pilot - gotta be late twenties for that i'm sure...

Even these guys look older....

The only reason I think Adam Brody auditioned for supes is because he looks nothing like batman or flash

Calm down guys, THR might have gotten it wrong about what parts the young actors were testing for. According to Robert Sanchez, the key roles have already been cast and these youngsters were being tested to round out the cast.

Furthermore, this is what Gregory Noveck has to say about it on http://www.justiceleagueonfilm.com:

VOICES FROM KRYPTON: There was the Hollywood Reporter story where they’re saying that 19 and 20 years olds are auditioning for Justice League. Does that kind of thing concern you guys at all?

GREGORY NOVECK: Don’t believe everything you read. Some of it may be true, some of it may not be. But I can tell you they’re not casting a 19-year-old as Superman. Most of the actors they’re looking at are in their late ‘20s.

key roles is what I consider Superman and Batman.

I was 95% sure that Welling was going to be cast....but it seems like the 5% chance of him not getting it may hit.

I guess your a fan of UN-INSPIRED casting potentially on this silly rush job of a project?

No, but no one has been cast yet.

And even if half the names mentioned were cast - personally I have no problem what so ever.

Again, the director is highly respected - this isn't some no name hack bringing in proven failures as actors. This is a Pro bringing in up and comers.

Honestly none of these careers are much worse than Bales pre-Begins. Yes, he had cult hit American Psycho - but no successful block busters and he was not a name guy. In fact he was labeled as being a blockbuster bust pre-Begins.

Its not even worth noting that everyone cast has twice the career Reeve and Routh had. Or everyone's boy toy Welling.

If you truly believed Welling was going to be cast, you must of had your head in the sand.
