Oliver Stone's Savages

and she did'nt suck in green lantern

i thought ryan was worse lol

Ryan Reynolds, even though he exactly didn't fit the part IMO, was probably one of the more memorable aspects of the film, up there with Mark Strong as Sinestro, Geoffrey Rush as Tomar-Re, Michael Clarke Duncan as Kilowog and whoever voiced the Guardians.

Blake Lively, your assessment of her performance in The Town (which I haven't seen yet) notwithstanding, didn't really have much chemistry with Ryan whatsoever, delivered her lines blandly and was pretty much only there to serve as a damsel in distress and Hal's love interest. Sure, Carol is supposed to headstrong and stubborn, but Blake's performance didn't really give me any reason to see why Hal would be in love with that woman.

I can't really think of a single notable thing her character did in that film, whereas I can remember several of the things that Hal did throughout.

It looks alright but I really dont like that oversaturated look but I really hope Blake Livley dies in the movie lol. I like the cast they got for the Cartel though.

This is going to be one of those movies where I'm going to be rooting for the villain. :funny: Salma here is interesting. At some parts, she looks great and at some parts she looks like she's overacting.

Same here lol I want the big bad drug dealers to win in this one.

^well thats how it always is i wanted joker to kill batman aswell !!!

Interesting way to promote the film here are Interrogation videos of the main characters

Ophelia

Ben

Chon

Elena

Lado

Either the movie looks bad or the marketing is bad. Because this trailer annoys me.

I'll go see it because it's Oliver Stone. I'm not really a fan of anybody in that cast save Travolta and Del Toro.

I heard Emile Hirsch was in this. I wish he was in Johnson's role though. He's falling by the wayside

I think it looks good from the trailer and I normally like Stone's work. I'll be seeing this.

This looks god awful and I weep for Del Toro.

I gotta send such love and admiration to Blake Lively's agents - how someone that bland can continuously get jobs in the industry makes me really believe Hollywood is the stuff of miracles.

dont see whats awful about this:huh:

looks like a pretty solid crime/drug film

It just looks so... bland to me.And not just because of Lively or Kitsch. I just don't see anything that looks particularly interesting or original about it. I might see it for Johnson and Del Toro, but it's definitely not on my "must see" list.

It's an Oliver Stone film. That should be enough.

Oliver Stone gets such a reputation and I don't know why. The last good movie he made was Any Given Sunday, and that was like 13 years ago. All of his films past 2000 are pure crap.

Any Given Sunday wasn't even that good. The plot is ridiculous (A third string QB wins like two games and suddenly he's a national superstar?!) and other things are just atrocious, like those weird Azrael uniforms the opposing team is wearing in the last game.

Well, Tim Tebow became a national superstar. Any Given Sunday isn't a bad flick, but it isn't great. If you ask me, Varsity Blues from the same year is a better flick.

Oliver Stone is a hack. One of the few times I have no problem calling someone that.

Tebow is a different thing. He had people calling for him to play weeks before he stepped onto the field. Willie Beaman was portrayed as an absolute nobody before he was thrown into the game.

Yeah, I agree, Varsity Blues is a much better movie. And I f***ing HATE high school football. But for some reason, I really liked that movie.

Yea, Beaman has a lot more in common with TJ Yates, it's just that nobody cared about him when Tebow was running around.

Also, Varsity Blues has Ali Larter in a whipped cream bikini, which automatically makes it better than Any Given Sunday

I'm with the majority... only way I'd see this is if Lively, kitcsh, and the other dude lose to the cartel in this movie... none of the good guys are worth rooting for in this other than possibly travolta.

Haha, you know it!

I must say, the marketing for Savages isn't that great, and I didn't get a good sense of what the movie is about from watching the huge billboards on the road. However, I do admit the trailer is very interesting, with some realism mixed in with the crazy, like a more sane version of Stone's Natural Born Killer. Kitsch actually looks better here than he did in the other two summer movies he's involved in, and if Savages does well it might end up "salvaging" his movie career. :oldrazz: I'm not a huge fan of Lively, but she was clearly cast in here as a sexpot and I think she did the job, as she seems to be quite sexy.

All in all, it doesn't convince me to pay $10 to see it in theatre, but I'll be sure to keep an eye out when DVD is released.
