Hello all.

I'm thinking about buying myself a new computer, mainly for gaming, since this computer burns when it even sees GTA SA.

Away from that, I'm interested in an Alienware Area-51 or Area-51 ALX.

I would like some opinions/reviews of people who have such a computer.

Thanks.

There was another guy that asked the same thing a while back :yay:

I don't think it's worth it either. Compare the Alienware rig with what it would cost to build something similar with parts from a site like Tigerdirect.

Thanks for pointing that out, Philly.

I know enough.

Another point to consider is the warranties on the parts.

With these brand computers your warranty is usually 2-3 years. Getting parts from a place like Tigerdirect you can compare warranties of similar priced items. Rather than a 2-3 year blanket warranty you can piece together a rig with some parts that might have lifetime warranties.

Thanks again, I always have a problem when it's like a month out of warranty.

I've a buddy who won a decent bit in the local lottery, and ended up dropping almost five grand on an Alienware laptop.........which was so shoddily built and overheated so much that he had to get it replaced thrice, and by the time the third one was borked, he was out of his warranty, so he was stuck with a paperweight.

overhyped overpriced junk. That's alienware.

alienware...good machines...way overpriced...simple as that

I have read a lot of reviews online stating that they overheat. All it really is anyhow is a souped up Dell, with fancy lights and wildly colored case. Honestly building you own is the way to go.

agreed

NEVER get an Alienware Laptop, they overheat. The only Alienware computer that's worth the buy is the regular the Aurora. But yeah, the best way to go is to make your own.

I don't know enough to do that. :(

Alienware is overrated and overpriced crap. Emphasis on the word "crap".
