King Kong and Cloverfield I really loved.

Godzilla and Pacific Rim I really disliked.

only one of which is getting a sequel it seems. Announced the weekend off released in response to the weekend of release...

Yeah, im very happy with that. We need more Godzilla movies. I want it to never end like James Bond.

King Kong is the one I most enjoyed, but I watched it when I was ~10 years younger.

Is there a chance we can have a Godzilla forum? This guy has plenty of films to discuss, and he'll have plenty more to come. He even has comics and lots of collectibles to talk about!

1) King Kong 9.5/10 amazing film, gets way too much hate
2) Pacific Rim 9/10 same as above, I loved it and cant seem to stop watching it either
3) Godzilla 8/10 good movie brought down by some bad choices
4) Cloverfield 7.5/10 good movie, but not much re-watchability.

1. King Kong, even though it took too long to get to the action once it started it was well worth it.

2. Pacific Rim

3. Cloverfield

4. Godzilla=disappointing/boring as hell.

This.

1. Godzilla!!!!
2/3 Pacific Rim/Cloverfield it's been awhile since I saw Cloverfield but I liked it when I did. Might be able to put one above the other with a rewatch

10. King Kong- way to long/boring as hell/I fell asleep first time I tried to watch it

King Kong is in my top ten ever- but the intro is a little too long 9/10
Pacific Rim was tons of fun-7.5/10
Godzilla was good but too little Godzilla for the teasing we got-7/10
I cannot describe how much I disliked Cloverfield 1/10 is kind.

Pacific Rim
Cloverfield
Godzilla
King Kong

And that's the bottom line!

Pacific Rim
Kong (Didnt like that they made Kong a goofy puppy dog in it though)
Cloverfield
Godzilla (Never been so disappointed in a movie, Godzilla is barely in it)

King Kong, was very disapointed by Godzilla, could have been film of the year, not too sure what to think of the Director right now.

Godzilla: 8/10
Pacific Rim: 6/10
King Kong: 5/10
Cloverfield: 2/10

Godzilla is an absolute bore in comparisoin to Pacific Rim. It tries to be a serious drama but can't pull it off but at the same time skimps in every other department.

Side note: The Host is probably a better movie than all of them. In terms of having both effective monster scenes and good human characters.

I almost feel like Cloverfield is the best of all these, followed by Godzilla...

I love them all & think they are all great in their own right, but I gotta go with Godzilla here. Imo, it handled its monster the best, had the best cast of the films listed, & was more enthralling.

If Godzilla was titled "MUTOs" and didn't include Godzilla at all then I'd probably say it handled its monsters the best. As it is though it is mostly disinterested in its title monster who has very little presence. I don't mean in terms of screentime necessarily. The shark in Jaws isn't on screen much but the plot and character interactions are driven by and are in reaction to the shark. The MUTO's play that role in Godzilla. Big G himself is rather shoehorned and ineffective.

King Kong
Cloverfield
Godzilla

I can't be bothered with Pacific Rim.:o

So you've seriously not even seen it? You'd do well to give it a shot.

Pacific Rim?
Yeah, Once in theatres, and once at home thinking it might be better than I remembered. Hated it both times. The over the top ridiculous comedy throws me out the story every time. Some cool action sequences but that just wasn't enough. Im a huge Del Toro fan too which was really disappointing.

Godzilla

The others didn't do anything for me.

People have become so spoiled with seeing the creature in every sequence that I think they mistake the point of doing the opposite. Godzilla had a big presence because he showed up where it was relevant & where he needed to be. He was hunting the MUTOs down so he was wherever they were.

Nothing wrong with adding mystique to the character by teasing the audience & giving bits and pieces for the time being.

That's why I say it handled its monsters the best. It didn't overuse them or have a scenario created where they had to be on-screen to sell the movie.

The thing that holds King Kong back (for me) is that it's too damn long. There was truly no reason for it to be 3 hours and 7 minutes long. Looking back, they probably could've done more business had it been shorter.

Pacific Rim was probably the best of the 4
