Just the one of the left. Made me also think of Sideswipe with a bit of Baymax.![]()
Very reminiscent of Evangelion
What the hell happened? Del Toro's designs were unique and distinct. These look like generic robots. You'd think for a sequel they'd push the designs. These just look like the first wave of concept art for robots. Very safe looking.
budget most likely since it was cut.
The streamlining also made me think they made these mechs smaller.
This is not the actual CG models from Double Negative, though it gives you a good idea about the new streamlined designs.
It's just like how when we see cheap CG renders on kid's posters for The Force Awakens or even the original Pac Rim. So we can't rate the quality of the actual effects just yet.
Makes sense.I don't think you can make budget declarations until you see it on screen. This is just concept art.

Definitely with those things waist lines. The red one especially looks like Unit 2.
Based on the designs, I'm gonna guess they'll move faster than the ones in the first film.
Yep, in this film they hired stunt men to mo-cap the Jaeger battles.

Not that I'm opposed to it, but I recall Del Toro and his team animated the jaegers movements from the ground up, to give the battles more weight.
I think mocapping jaegers will be cool, I just hope they don't look like they're lighter than a feather.
