Woo! Good news for GDT. Hope he can focus on doing it properly. I wonder what the plans are for #2? Guess we'll have to see what #1 is like before we talk about it!

He may have just given us a major spoiler of the 1st film, either way i doubt he makes enough money to get a sequel

I liked Pacific Rim, but if a sequel doesn't happen, I won't lose sleep over it. It didn't really leave anything open-ended.

There's a lot of unexplored history within the movie. I wanna see the world when the Kaiju War was at its height. Before all the Jaegers were destroyed.

There is certainly more that can come out of this universe but I'm happy with what I got and that its a self contained story.

    Same here.

I'd rather have JLD and ATMOM.

I want a Kaiju to rescue parts of Gypsy and have a Kaiuju/Gyspy fusion robot...That would be insane.

    Be crazy!

I'd say this needs at least a 425-450 m worldwide gross before a sequel is taken seriously by the studio.

It's gonna need at least 315 m OS. Not easy but still not impossible.

No I think if it hit $350-360M total worldwide that would be fine. The budget was $180M, so double the budget

The budget was 190 m then there's marketing cost.

I believe most movies need to make 2.2 times the budget to get a sequel usually.

Unless there is good potential for merchandising sales like GI Joe.
