No Spider-Man villain from the Lee/Ditko era had a background when they were introduced. Stan never gave them a backstory as to who they were and what made them tick as people before becoming villains.
Writers at Marvel gave the villains backstories later on down the line.
exactly, thats the only point i'm trying to make. The only reason Shocker was changed was because Weisman felt like it. there is no logical reason to it, and thats all i'm saying. It would have been better if Shultz was the Shocker, just because thats what we're used to. By what Weisman said i'm kind of surprised he didn't make Ox the Rhino, heck that actually almost makes sense, i mean he's pretty much got as much backstory as Shultz
what i find the wierdest is how in many people's eyes here, Weisman can do no wrong. i mean i love the series, but every episode has had its negative moments, yet so many people seem to think its absolutely perfect. So far i think Weismans done a great job, but he isn't perfect, there is no one that could make a perfect series. there have been a bunch of flaws in my eyes so far, but that doesn't mean i don't like the show. and its wierd how when i say i think something was stupid, people act as if i attacked their mother or something, and its not like Weisman actually cares what i think. heck spidey 1-2 are some of my favorite movies, and theres still tons of problems i see in them, such as Peter Parker acting in a way throughout them that he never has in the comics, except like the first issue.
I like Charles Schulz name better.
Seriously, will someone write down the highlights of future episodes for the show, in which they talked about.
all in all Hermen Shultz is a really stupid name, i can't imagine growing up with the name Hermen
mac gargon - actually had a history before the scorpion, he was hired by jjj to discover how peter got the pictures of spider-man.
ya i know that, but its really nothing important, it has nothing to do with his personality or w/e, any random bum could have been used by JJ for the Scorpion experiment and it would be the exact same
otto - didn't have a history before the accident but his character after the accident has certainly been explored
imho they could have changed the first three but not otto his character is important because you need to see the change in personality before and after the accident.
same thing, any random scientist could have been used.
thats it, like imagine if 3 months ago i came to this board and told everyone that Montana would be the Shocker. For one everyone would tell me i'm BSing it, but also every single poster would comment on what a stupid idea it is. They actually do that in the cartoon then, and all of a sudden its considered great, heck most here considered it great before they even saw it, just as soon as it was announced.
imagine if all those other characters were changed, i imagine people would be pissed, but going by the lot around here i'm sure most would end up saying "OMG that is fantastic, awesome news!!!"
I'm sure Greg would own you in any debate on this subject.
this is the same as saying my daddy can beat up your daddy
