"Passengers" - Sci-fi drama starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence

Not an overly amazing trailer but looks interesting.

Not interested at all.

Titanic on space.

Someone get Garland on the phone and make him drop Annihilation teaser.

As someone who has read the script, it's really not like that at all. But I can see why you would make that assumption. Give it a chance. This trailer, while very well done and looks to be very faithful to the script, was edited to be a bit deceptive as to what is really going on.

Yeah, from a little more I know now, the trailers seem to be more deceptive and making it look more safe than anything. They're just gonna play up the Pratt/Lawrence together element and think that'll suffice because they may not want people to be turned off by some things. Which is a shame because it makes the idea more interesting and me more interested in this movie now.

It looks interesting, but not enough for me to go see it theatrically.

Reviews have to be good to convince me otherwise.

You know that Julia Roberts in space movie Hugh Grant goes to see in "Notting Hill". That's what I was thinking of when I watched the trailer. It felt like a sci-fi drama that people in another movie might be watching.

They'd better handle the "reveal" which probably won't be much of one in the film itself to be fair, very carefully. Because this could go south into creepy territory so fast if they botch that. Especially if it's being played up as a love story.

I think that's one of the main reasons they cast Pratt. You need someone with Pratt's likability factor to keep the character sympathetic. I don't think they'll ever flat out give it away in the marketing from here on out(even though this trailer hints at it). Most people who aren't familiar with the plot haven't yet picked up on what's really going on from watching this first trailer.

So he's an engineer and she's a reporter?

This might work better if he's woken up because there's a fault but he wasn't the first maybe have his predecessor leave him a message explaining what went wrong except forced to deactivate another low berth chamber he chooses to revive the occupant rather than let them die.
That would improve what I've been reading here about this script would it also sound better to you?

It looks really slick! After that trailer I'm sold, I'll be watching it this December!

And apparently, he gets to have a love scene with her as well. And he's married to Anna Faris. Lets face it, Chris Pratt's life is freaking awesome, lucky guy.

One of the things that I love about Lawrence, but not the only thing, is that she does "anger" really well most of the time. So seeing her get really angry at what happens, could be really compelling if they do it right.

He's more of a mechanic than engineer. He's woken up because of a meteor striking the ship and causing some system failures. These failures become wider over time and are a driving force in the third act. Without going into too much detail, while his awakening of Aurora was done for selfish reasons, it actually saved her life in the long run. The story wouldn't really work if Jim wasn't the first person who woke up.

I liked the trailer. I don't think it showed too much or not enough and it is one of the few dramatic movies I intend to see in the theater this year.

They should reveal it in the next trailer. But they should reveal it so audiences know what they're going into.

But that's why it could backfire. They may think they're protecting a secret or intentionally and/or trying not to make Pratt look unappealing. People know Pratt is this lovable guy and if they go in and see something different than what they expect, they'll feel slighted and manipulated. Marketing really is a key element, because they have to show the true representation of the movie while not giving anything away. Looks like they're doing one and that could hurt it.
