I've been one to slam Liefeld in the past.

I must say though,his art has improved quite a bit since the 90s.I've looked thru all the Cap issues I had from then,and I truly believe his art has improved.

I might actually pick this up,I don't know why.

thors legs are mighty long and it looks like sues oversized breast knocked franklin out.he still cant draw feet or legs and apprently everyone in the time line wears eye liner.

apprently every women he sees is standing like there backs broken and always stand like that,has he ever drawn a women moving? o wait yes, but apprently half there bodies disappear in the process. check out the girl in the blue jackets arm,like its been broken and is flailing behind her.The others got uneven arms and one mans hands are gone.I dont remember wolfsbane losing a finger when she transformed either,wait,never mind,all the women have disfigurments in his eyes.Man,i thought gamma rays gave people super powers in the marvel universe.Hes terrible.

He has honestly improved one hell of a lot and I have to give him all the respect in the world for being in the industry this long, taking criticism and actually trying to improve his craft. I know he is the whipping boy of comic fans, but I actually think there are artists out there who are worse and they get by because people call them "stylistic".

And hell... the huge majority of his work deserves criticism, but there is a line between critiquing something and nitpicking the hell out of something. Especially when people with critique Leifield for something and then in the same breath praise Turner or Churchill. Double standards.

Saying that, I don't like his art but sometimes I feel people just hop onto a bandwagon.

no,hes improved only because hes trying to keep up,he has said himself that he thinks we the fans are wrong and that hes a great artist and i think he mentioned being like jack kirby.ALL his work deserves what it gets,so does he when he tries to defend it,he makes comments like "thats just somones opionion" or "thats your taste" but the fact is PEOPLE ARE MISSING BODY PARTS THAT NEED TO BE THERE IN PRETTY MUCH EVERY PIC HE DOES.He does whatever he can to not draw feet and hands and apprently noses.Hes a bad artist and i dont know why he is still in the industry,hes the worst out there.He doesnt have a style,hes just a bad artist trying to have a style and thats that.He cant keep anything consistant either,not even on those covers and he is a major copy cat even of himself.Theres nothing to defend.

Well for the most part yea he does have alot of artistic flaws but on the other hand i do think some ppl tend to get nitpicky when his name comes up (so i've seen around here in the past) .


It does seem that because it's him ppl go overboard.

For the most part he has potential, but yea i can seee alot of recycling in his art, it's hard not to do so i subconscioulsy do it when i start a drawing sometimes too. But in his case he just needs to stop.

Yeah...his women did not have packages back then. His proportions were way better (some may say normal men could achieve some of the characters sizes)...Now it's just huge, small heads, breasts that set farther apart than my hands are from eachother....awful stuff.

I can see why he might compare himself to Jack Kirby, since Kirby, like Rob, didn't have any formal art training, and both of their styles exhibit a certain kinetic quality. They both could be considered influential outsider artists. However, the similarities end there. First of all, Kirby's art came straight from his imagination, whereas Liefeld "borrows" from other artists. Second, Kirby intuitively had a sound, although flawed, sense of proportion and perspective, while Liefeld has absolutely no idea about either concept and only occasionally gets it right by accident. Finally, Kirby is respected because his boundless imagination created images and motiffs that no one had ever imagined before, yet Rob's greatest contributions to the comic medium are the superfulous pouch and the barrelless rectangle gun.
