My understanding is that Disney and Sony's agreement with Spider-Man is for a Spider-Man trilogy and three team-up films, with the latter being complete if Spidey appears in Avengers 4.
Assuming the third Spider-Man film in the agreement is released two or three years after Avengers 4 and takes place during his senior year of high school, what do you think or want to happen next? Renewal for three more team-ups and a "Parker gets his bachelor's degree" trilogy? Would you be OK with the rest of the universe running at 1/2 to 1/3 real time? At what point should they drop Tom Holland for being too old?

I don't want them to drop Tom Holland for being too old, I want the character to grow up. In the 616 comics Peter Parker hasn't been in high school since the 1960s (issue 28 of ASM, we're on 800 now). They can have him go through college, go full time at the Daily Bugle, become a science teacher and Horizon labs researcher.

As a hero we can see him grow past being a rookie, let loose with the wise cracks as he gains confidence, go through loss, end up a veteran hero barely out of his teens and end up at the heart of the Avengers, maybe even a founder if we get the MCU New Avengers.

I'd absolutely love that.

Like a healthy majority of Spider-man fans I grew up reading about a college aged/adult Peter so I eventually want to see that, but I felt that taking him back to high school and starting us there was the absolute right move.

A lot of people weren't cool with that and wanted to just rush right towards the older Peter, but I think that is a very myopic, shortsighted approach to a character that should ostensibly be one of the main characters in the MCU going forward. We need to see him young, we need to see what it's like to grow up in the MCU in a post-Avengers world, and we need to grow with Peter if we're going to spend a significant amount of time with him.

We ARE going to see him grow up, so long as the series doesn't start to financially flop. The issue is that it won't be in real time. He was a sophomore in 2017, will be a junior in 2019, and the last high school film will be released in '21 or even '22. How do you think they'll handle the timeline after that? How many films will he spend getting his bachelor's? Do you think the other MCU films will keep their time references consistent with Parker's years in HS & college?

he's gonna be a major player in the MCU for years to come, as he should be. He's the crown jewel after all.

The series will likely never flop as long as it stays in the capable hands of Fiege and Marvel studios.

The main thing I'm worried about it Sony. At the moment it all appears to be going well, but Sony is just dumb enough to mess up a good thing.

I think disney will eventually just purchase the rights outright
