nice

Hey there Hypesters

Zombie_Samurai, Jack Rabbit, She-beast, Phoney Bone, Mrh: thanks so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it.

So... I didn't manage to finish my spider-man for the fan art contest. I dunno, I was really hyped when i started it, then i saw the movie and couldn't be arsed to finish it. I thought it was so uninspiring.

BUT! I have done a modest wolverine redesign, with the mask inspired by his original costume...

It got me thinking... what is wrong with Hugh Jackman as wolverine?

[1] Wolverine doesn't make sense if he ain't ugly.

[2] Wolverine doesn't make sense if he ain't short.

Looks good, loads of attitude.

Reminds me a little of Alex Ross' redesign. Nice work.

love your style... the wolverine pic looks sweet... stinks you didn't finish up with spidey, but i cant say I don't agree about your take on the movie.

Great Wolverine. See, why couldn't he have worn a shirt like that in the movie, at least on his off time.

Great stuff.

hey mee, thanks a lot, & yeah i was definitely influenced by alex ross' design: in wolvie's look i love the juxtaposition between small, sleek and stream-lined vs ugly, hairy and bulky and i guess that's what i was trying to get at in my design. also, i never understood the shoulder pads... why does wolvie need armour?

She-beast, Mattchew, Artistsean: thanks all for your comments. i especially like the disney connotation!

now, dunno if you'll be interested but i kinda have a new girlfriend who is gorgeous and french and digs comic books so i drew her as juge pauline from mega-cite quatre...

whaddya think? there's a whiff of bruce timm about it. by the way, meeting pauline has co-incided with me deciding not to become a teacher after all and instead have a real go at being a comic book artist... so as soon as i finish teacher training [2 weeks!] i'll be getting a lot more serious!

great stuff here too... this crouching pose is a b!tch for me, but you nailed it (especially the visible foot). Love the look of the face, and the shine on the glasses is a great touch.

read your reply in my thread.... hope you do get a chance to enter the contest, cause your stuff is always unique and a lot of fun.

aw, thanks a lot man, means a lot.

for anyone interested [not superhero-ish at all, i know, sorry] here's the completed flyer for that music night. i didn't put it together or choose the background but i drew what i was told to draw and i came up with the logo, too. also, i'm getting paid for it! woohoo! my first paid gig!

looks really cool with the background... you might try saturating your guy, or desaturating the background just slightly to make the intensity of their color pallets a bit closer together...

then again, it looks awesome, so maybe just leave it.

haven't done anything serious serious for a while... am currently on holiday in France... but i had another commission from a friend of mine to do a cartoon about her dad for his wedding. i thought someone might be interested.... this is just the start of it, but it's the bit that looks the best

I think it's the accurate shadows that really blend the cartoon image with the real backround. Really brings the whole thing together.

Great job!

thanx comicchick. here's summat else i whipped up a while ago... don't ask me about all the dead angels...

eveinedensmallbo1.jpg

how did i miss this?!?!?! my fave of your's so far. So in keeping with your style of kinda... fluid bodies, I'll call it.

the extreme pose is freaking great!

I just love how the fluid quality of the sword and apple holding character is repeated in the tree to the left.

the colors are great too. love how most are muted to make some of the golds and blues really pop.

REALLY REALLY great stuff. Sorry so late on replying to this!

as always mattchew, thanks for the kind words. it means a lot! right, okay, so i PROMISE i'm gonna enter the fanart contest for september to try and satisfy you superhero heads... in the meantime here's a graphic short story i did for a competition
