Photos of BAT-MANIA 1989

These photos were taken on me and "Batman" at a JC Penny's in Michigan City, IN during the Summer of 1989. I don't remember a whole lot about the experience except...that might as well have been Keaton in the production costume. His outfit was perfectly authentic right down to the smallest details and there was a **** load of merchandise everywhere (as you can kind of see in the photos)

I know that my parents have some more photos from this event in a photo book somewhere, I'll have to try and dig them out eventually. My dad took photos of alot of the merch. If only I could get all that stuff now...I'd be broke, but happy!

If anyone else has any personal photos like this from the summer of '89, PLEASE scan 'em up and post them here!

I was 16 in 89. Man, almost 20 years. God, Im getting old. :(

I turned 8 in Dec of '89. And remember getting quite a few Batman action figures, the Batcave playset, and the Batmobile toy along with the VHS of the Burton's Batman on my bday that year.

Good times.

We have photos around my house of my older brothers holding me (I was just a baby) wearing some awesome Joker shirts. Those are some awesome photos.

Wow, that's cool. Thanks for sharing those.

His suit does look pretty authentic.

Pretty cool pics. I was born in 1989, so I don't remember anything of this, I come to this world months after the movie was released. I am happy to have grown with the Batman TAS though.

Yeah me too !! I'd just started working and ended up spending most of my first month's pay on Bat memorabilia.

Aaah Happy Days :woot:

Agreed. I honestly would have went all Joker with the make-up looking that great.

But it's still an awesome looking costume.

I wish i could find the photo's where i went as Joker for Halloween when i was just a tiny little boy. my grandmother hand sewed my whole costume and it looked identical to Jacks.

I was only about a year old when '89 came out, but I can remember the imagery from the film and merchandise from the stores almost vividly. Those are probably my earliest memories, just a bunch of blurry images in my head of seeing Batman and Joker stuff everywhere.

WOW! That is awesome! I still don't know whether you're wearing a mask or makeup! Did your parents help you with that?

No, my aunt sewed the costume... But I did the make-up by myself.
The cowl was made of papier mache and plaster, it only covered to the ear.
so I draw with a black marker over the photo to make me resemble better.
Obviusly the inspiration for me was the Prince videoclip.

I was a very skilled boy.:woot:

Makes me miss that time so much, even though Im really excited for the bat-hype for TDK as an adult, nothing will ever beat the feeling I got in 89!!

notice Indiana Jones and batman in the theatres at the same time,
like this year!
