I was 24 when B89 came out. I remember wearing a Batman t-shirt to the premiere (advanced screening the night before official release) and the newspaper photographer was there taking pics of all the people in line and I was the main dude in the pic they published the next morning in the paper! You could also see my Batman tattoo ( I call it my "Battoo : ) as well!

I was so pumped to see that movie. Just as I was to see BB. My anticipation for TDK is so high that I am about to EXPLODE!!!

I've seen every Batman movie on release day (if not the day before) and TDK won't be any different.

I loved B89. I HATED BR! Thought BF was...okay...hate it now. REALLY disgusted with B&R (who wasn't?!) LOVED,LOVED, LOVED Begins!!

Now...THE DARK KNIGHT!!!!

Interesting, Batman squared off against Indiana Jones in 1989 and now again in 2008.

circa Feb 1990

this is the best thing i have ever seen. :wow:

i was 13 in 1989 when batman came out and we all made costumes but that takes the cake.

I miss the days of searching for showtimes in newspapers, now everything is on the internet:csad:

so tru

I was born right when Batman '89 came out and while my mom was home with me...a newborn...my dad went out with his best friend and saw Batman in theaters

The mania surrounding Batman in the summer of 89, and really as early as 88 was as close to Star Wars as I have ever seen.

You literally could not walk into a gas station without seeing Batman merchandise.

Hey Chaplin1914, do you live in Michigan City? Cause I do. The guy you got your picture with used to be a security guard at Marquette Mall, and that Batman costume belonged to my brother. He still has it actually. When I read your post I had to do a double take and look again, cause I would never have expected to see someone mention Michigan City here!

The best batman movie in my opinion thanks for sharing those pictures everyone very interesting

I was 1 year old in 1989 so I don't really remember that much of it. The BR times are more familiar to me. I remember collecting the BR cards. They were also selling B89 pins at the time. I have some of those too.

Does anyone have the bat bank that came on the back of the batman cereal?

This was me in 1989:

Hey your just as tall as Michael Keaton there buddy. :woot: But seriously I was 13 and living in Ecuador when Batman came out and I remember going to the mall and buying the trading cards and some key chains, street vendors were selling bootleg T-shirts and there was a theater with a huge marquee of Keaton as Batman.

Man I wish there was that type of hype nowadays, the internet has ruined it pretty much for youngsters who can get up to the minute info on every movie being made.

Yes, but unfortunately, I don't have enough road to back out.

Bah! Useless! :cmad:

Agreed 100%

I love the internet. Great tool. But it has ruined that certain factor in getting hyped for films.

I was 7 back in 1989 and i remembered all the media hype on this movie, this was the first movie i saw when i left Omaha to live in Albuquerque. I had some of the merchandise like A t-shirt, a magazine on the movie, cards, ate the cereal, action figures, Taco Bell Cups, and even watched the campy 60's show on the Family Channel. I saw the movie at one of the theaters and instantly loved it, it made me a Batman fan just like how "Superman 1 & 2" made me a Supes fan and how "Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends" made me a Spider-Man fan.

Ah memories.

Yes. I have one loose and one still sealed with the cereal.:woot:

Also, that same bank came packed with some of the Bat Tortilla chips.

I was but a year old when Batman came out in '89. However, some of my earliest memories are littered with the Batman logo, on t-shirts, posters, what have you.

It was just that damn iconic that you couldn't get away from it in the late 80's/early-to-mid-90's. I don't think I actually saw the movie until I was around 7. And I might have even seen "Batman Returns" first, to be honest.

Yeah me too !! I'd just started working and ended up spending most of my first month's pay on Bat memorabilia.

Aaah Happy Days :woot:
I was 18 the summer it came out. Everybody and their sister had something Batman. It was definitely a good time to be a fanboy.

No matter how much this movie is hyped, it won't reach the popularity of the Summer Of The Bat
