Oh come on. This is painfully traced. Like copyright infringement kind of tracing. I'm not gonna make a thing of it but...****. As an aspiring artist, this makes me sad.

What makes people certain that artist traces? I don't know the nuances of digital tablet art, I just use pencil and paper myself.

I work digitally from time to time--it's waaaay too perfect. Way too perfect. If I could find the picture, I'd even argue that they just put some Photoshop filters on the picture and called it art. The way the shoulder strap meets her shoulder is next to a photorealistic. The armband on her bicep is especially suspect. Not to say people can't make near photorealistic art.

But you can tell, despite how good it looks, that it's not a tracing. You can tell they made it from scratch. However, the picture in question looks like a photo in a Photoshop filter.

And the fact that EVERY one of their pictures on their tumblr is just bland portraits of people just standing there leads me to believe they don't actually do any art. They find photos of what they want and either A) trace it and then dim the opacity to match the colors (essentially coloring ontop of the picture) or B) They just put some filters on it, like I said before.

NOW I'm getting into it...and I'm getting mad. I'll stop.

Seriously why would this dude's "art" cause you to be sad, or mad? You can't let someone else's work affect what you're trying to do. Draw however you like. Post whatever you think is awesome on here. If someone disagrees that's on them.

You're comparing realistic portrait art to cartoonish fan art (not an insult to Artgerm, they're great at what they do). Two completely different styles. Photorealism is entirely possible; just because you/your favorite artist can't/doesn't paint realistically does not mean it can't be done or must be photoshop filters. Give me a break.

...he's a portrait artist, so of course his portfolio would consist of "bland portraits of people."
