Heres the story behind it:
The first recorded destruction of a power ring was at the hands of a Guardian. Attempting to halt the Kryptonian Armageddon Creature, centuries later known as Doomsday, a lone Guardian melted the power ring the creature had torn from Zharan Pel, the ill fated Green Lantern of Space Sector 2813.

But in Batman: In Darkest Knight, Wonder Woman and the Flash wear the Green Lantern Power Rings.
