I'm pretty sure this will be the movie to take down "The Dark Knight".

Damn. Call me wrong on this one. "The Dark Knight" won the weekend again by about $4 million ahead of "Pineapple Express". If "Pineapple Express" had been released on Friday as planned, it would have won, since it's made $40 million since Wednesday. Not that I'm complaining, I'm just impressed by TDK's staying power.

The studio pushed the date up to Wednesday because they thought the Olympics would interfere with the weekend numbers. They're doing the same for "Tropic Thunder". Movie studios just need to realize that most people don't give a **** about the Olympics.

Well It was Rated R, and that stopped me from watching the movie, cause I had no adult friends that are older then 18 that would want to go.


So I went to the movies yesterday and said one for PE and guys like rated R buddy...so I said, TDK please.

If it's still at #1 after four weekends, that's called staying power. And you have no right to criticize about what people do with their lives.

TDK just appeals more to the masses than PE. one is a pg-13 superhero movie while the other is a rated R stoner action/comedy.

I have to chime in on the james Franco love. Rogen is fun in the film, but Franco completely rules. a brilliant combination of Brad Pitt in "True Romance" and Sean Penn in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High".I was very pleased to see this side of Franco in a film.

I feel like people that don't blaze (or haven't ever blazed) can't get the full effect from this movie. Sure, it would still be very funny, but if you actually understand the state of mind they are in during the movie, it definitely elevates the movie.

There are certain things Franco and the other actors do that reminded me of experiences I've had. Just little ticks and lines delivered in such a way that it adds a whole other element to the film.

Missing out. The conversation Rogen has on his cell phone in the beginning of the film about legalizing marijuana is one that I've had dozens of times. I also share his opinion.

Agreed man me too. I like the part where he says that people have been smoking it for decades and will continue to do it but are being forced by the goverment to deal with real drug dealers who are shady people most of the time. I feel that...I also dont like to be friends with my dealers.

Seth Rogen and James Franco are perfect as stoners in Pineapple Express.
Even on the run from bad guys the two still take a little time to smoke up,especially in 2 hilarious scenes that take place in the woods.PA has a Tarantino like feel to it as the film is sprinkled with colorful characters and dialogue,and also some extreme violence.
Ed Begley Jr.makes the most of his short time on screen.Danny R. McBride is also a standout as a fellow doper.Rosie Perez is feisty and cute as a corrupt cop.Gary Cole's deadpan bad guy was also quite funny.
The film has some slow moments,and you have to suspend disbelief when certain characters keep recovering from being shot,maimed,and blown up.
Still there are tons of laughs to be had,and add a few points if you actually toked up while watching PA.

It pisses me off that there are people saying that only stoners can enjoy movies like this. I've never smoked anything in my life and I found this movie pretty funny. Friday is one of the favorite movies. You don't need to be high, damn it!

Hell if you need to be high for movie to be funny, then it's not a very good movie.

If you'd taken the time to read my post, you'd have seen that I said the movie would still be very funny for non-smokers, but if you do smoke weed, it actually adds another element to the film...and makes it even funnier.

It's ridiculous to say that only stoners would enjoy this because they purposely made a film that wouldn't just appeal to stoners. they would be out of their minds to create something that didn't have a bigger appeal. they knew many people seeing this wouldn't be stoners so they made a comedy that fans of their work could all enjoy.

it would be a good film to watch while high though .
