Police beat deaf man for not listening!

Thank the Lord baby Jesus it's not in Florida.......

"Coyle went on to say Pearson was severely beaten at the scene, the hospital, and jail."

Wait, so they beat him into the hospital, and then continued the beating at the hospital?

This is kind of a new low.

Breaking news! There was a blind man accompanying him!

My first thought was that it was the NYPD again.

Mine after seeing it wasn't Florida is it must've been Texas. That it was Oklahoma is only slightly less surprising.

This isn't surprising. Look at what happened to Kelly Thomas.

A lot of cops are just flat out bullies. They're not smart, they're animals.

While this didn't happen in Florida, there was a incident when a retired police officer got so mad at a man texting during a movie, that he shot him dead. This was up near Tampa I believe.

Wait, DJ didn't post this? What, is he on vacation or something?

What the cops did was wrong, but this might have been avoided if the deaf man hadnt fled the scene of the accident in the first place. That put the officers on guard for a potentially troublesome suspect so when they caught up with him their guard was up and they were ready to go all 'Murrica on his ass. Hope they get properly reprimanded. I would say i hope the deaf man is properly charged for fleeing the scene, but that overly extreme ass beating was more than enough punishment.

Did I miss the part where it became acceptable for police to beat people? For any reason.

They should be fired, if not put in prison.

No one said that, did they? Hopefully they are reprimanded. It seems to be going that way. Theyve already been suspended. Theres no way to sweep this under the rug without some fallout.

You're over in the Kanye West thread arguing that it's wrong for Black people to react to racial slurs, yet here you're defending police officers who severely beat an elderly deaf man for not hearing their orders. Being sanctimonious about one assailant and sympathetic to the others is very contradictory.

Given that the man is deaf and it was supposedly a very minor accident he might not have even realized that his car collided with another. He has a "Deaf Driver" sign on the drivers' side of his car so they don't even have the plausible excuse of not knowing about his disability. The cops will probably get off but really they ought to be fired and prosecuted for using excessive force.

Whoa whoa whoa I did not defend those police officers. I said the deaf man fled the scene of the crime which he did and that is a crime. Im not going out on a limb saying he knew that was a crime. And i dont think im going out on a limb saying the officers were most likely making assumptions that the man who fled the scene was going to give them trouble. The cops entered the situation hostile so rather than taking the patience and time to assess they junped into the situation ready to go 'Murrica on the deaf man. Thats what i said. At no point did i defend those bastards.

Im of the same mind here that i am in the kanye thread. Violence doesnt solve a thing and that energy is better served in a non violent manner. This shoot first ask questions later and whoop ass mentality that seems to be pervading american police forces is becoming or has been a major problem for too long and im surprised there hasnt been a federal crackdown on it. Innocent americans and even the not so innocent are being subjected to abuse that doesnt fit their crime. Its getting insane.
