i find that the movie looks VERY saturated... anyone agree?

WTF man, you new guys need to stop creating a post for every random thought...

its Singer's style for the movie that it have a 30-ish feel to it, hence the darker colors, the art deco architecture like that.

Brighter colors would look too happy and gay.

Darker colors make Superman cool.

Thank goodness we didnt have xmen running around in bright yellow spandex.

i dont know about "cool" but it makes it look bland

do some more comparison shots. They're awesome.

The city and Lex's dark fortress is where I think things get darker and less saturated. The kent farm is where the colors pop out and and sizzle with flavor. Maybe it's a metaphor or something.

Kent farm, warm, happy, and comfy home for supes.

City/lex's fortress, dangerious, dark, mysterious... most importantly alienating.

something like that.

Well wtf just stop it and get to work. You're alive. Live, dammit. ;)

OMG YES if we had more color like in willy wonka i think this movie would rock OMG!!!!!

wow. here are some other questions i have that may possibly ruin the movie:

1. does anybody else think that supermans eyes should be more brighter because hes like an alien and stuff?
2. does anybody else think that lex should wear size 11 shoes instead of size 10?
3. does anybody think that the kid doesnt look like lois' son? because i did a very thorough investigation and the cheekbones are all wrong and so is the ears!!! OMG like he doesnt even have the same nose or mouth OMG!!!!
4. OMG does anybody else think that if superman returns had a giant robot spider and a gay jimmy olsen would make the movie more realistic?
5. does anybody else think this poll is dumb?

the colors are strongly DES-saturated in fact.

In my opinion, It would definitely benefit with more definition in some shots with extreme usage of color and light. The more light you have in a shot, the more vibrant the colors become in that shot...

a few examples:

unfortunately, you can't just have color alone... You've got to have a substantial light source to go with that color so it can illuminate in the right circumstances.

I think every color/light issue is deliberate. I think that the movie will begin in a very dark pallete, only to reach a finale where Superman brings warmth/light back to Earth.

Remember the first teaser, where the people are all dressed in dark clothes, are looking up - next scene is Superman above the clouds, in fron of the sunlight.

i dont see what your trying to say:confused: .... can you dumb it down for me:O

 WOOPS!

the color and lighting that Singer chose was, in my opinion, too dark... If they had made Metropolis brighter in appearance, the suit would of stood out more and looked more "heroic" or so to speak.

I voted no. The movie may have some muted tones, but they're well meshed, and the art direction's fantastic, IMO, so I love it. I think it certainly has more color than BB or the X-Men movies. You could argue Superman is a brighter character, and he is, but I think he fits in the enviroment Singer's created just fine.
