Exclusive: PS3 To Pick Up 360 Title
By Alex C [nofi]

Whilst we can’t reveal any specifics right now, we can now reveal that the PlayStation 3 will play host to a popular 360 favourite. The title, which has to remain under wraps with us for the time being, will be released towards the end of the year. We’ve been promised more information in roughly a month’s time, at which point we’ll be able to share the specifics, first.
Our contact has also let us know that the studio will have other exciting news to share soon enough. Note that we can not talk about this further at this stage.

If this is true (Sixthaxis isn't exactly the most legit site) then MEGATON!

2 recent news stories? BioWare "pumped" to work on PS3 and Valve are building a PS3 team. Mass Effect or Left4Dead, I'd be happy with either, but I really want Mass Effect personally.

Gonna be an annoying wait to find out more, but I hope it delievers. It'd suck if it turned out to be like The Last Remnant or something.

Ooooh I'd like to see Star Ocean too actually.

Star Ocean would be the likely source, since Sony has already had 2 Star Ocean titles, and Squeenix likes money.

It's been assumed by fans that SO4 would eventually come to the PS3 since it was released. The series isn't even all that popular outside of Japan. It has it's followings in NA and EU, but it's a cult thing at best in those regions.

BioWare said the other day that EA owns the Mass Effect IP, I dunno I'm kinda hoping they're gearing up for the Mass Effect super release.

I was going to make this same thread.
So, what game can it be?

I don´t believe it will be Mass Effect due to the update of an article posted 08/07 on Joystiq, regarding Mass Effect going to the PS3:
Matt Atwood at BioWare just contacted us to clarify his statements from earlier today regarding Mass Effect 2's exclusivity to Xbox 360 and PC. He says, "It [exclusivity] actually does exist for Mass Effect 2. And beyond that, we haven't announced any plans."

It can be Gears of Wars, but i highly doubt it; it can be Left 4 Dead, but i would make Valve look stupid; it can be Splinter Cell conviction, but it would make Ubisoft look even more stupid; it can be Alan Wake, but, after so many years in the waiting, Microsoft would be the laughingstock.
I would say Star Ocean or The Last Remnant, but the article states POPULAR 360 exclusive

Whatever it is, serves them right.
That´s one thing that Sony does much better than Microsoft, which is 1st parties.
Sony has 18 1st party developers and two 2nd party; Microsoft has 3 (Rare, Lionhead and Big Park), with only one 2nd party (Bungie).
Sony exclusive games are really exclusive, from Microsoft, only 20% or so are really exclusives.
Microsoft really needs to grow their 1st party studios...

I honestly doubt that these developers and publishers really worry about 'looking stupid' anymore. I think they realize that people who actually follow this stuff on a regular basis know that all this stuff is mostly them blowing smoke out of their butts. It'll just take a PR statement after the announcement and everyone will just shrug it off.

As far as the popular thing goes, SO4 would be quite popular as far as Japan is concerned. That series is pretty well likely over there, maybe not FF and DQ level, but it has a strong following

Actually Valve has said recently that they have no plans to build a PS3 team, so I'm sure it's not from them.

I would say probably Star Ocean or maybe even Mass Effect finally.

They did say that, but literally a week later the Head Designer of Valve said the main reason they weren't working on the PS3 was because they had no one with PS3 programming experience and would actually be open to hiring some to work on official Valve PS3 projects. They's inconsistent :o

I think it's a safe bet to assume it's not a huge game like Mass Effect. Why would Bioware randomly give this small site such a huge exclusive announcement?

It's probably not, but if this ends up being true, there's really not a huge list. I believe Gears is partially owned by MS so that's most likely a no go and nobody cares about Last Remnant. All that's left is Valve's stuff, Mass Effect, SO4 and Splinter Cell. All I can think of anyway.

If it even amounts to anything

The very first title I thought of was Mass Effect.

Gears has a 2 game deal with MS, so its possible that 3 is coming to PS3, but there's no way it'll be that.

I hope it will. They have planned Gears to be a +10 year franchise. :P

Personally, I'd rather see SC: Conviction come to the PS3 then any other 360 exclusive.

Conviction is an inevitability either way really. It may not be this year, but it'll definitely be on the PS3 within a year. I'm sure by a year after it's been released just about every active system will have a version of it

I'm thinking the first Mass Effect or Braid.

Valve is to Microsoft as is Hideo Kojima is to Sony and Itagaki is to Microsoft as well so I think we can forget about Left4Dead. The Last Remnant sold poorly and a PS3 version has already been confirmed. Star Ocean is pretty much expected to come on the PS3 anyways, so it wouldn't be a megaton. Microsoft publishes Gears of War. And Splinter Cell: Conviction hasn't even come out yet.

I would put much in the whole megaton thing, seems everything halfway large is coined as a megaton announcement nowadays. Since the site says the game will be released at the end of the year it doesn't rule out SC, since it's conceivable that Ubi might want to release those simultaneously. Doubtful, but possible.
