Popular 360 exclusive coming to PS3?

whats up with sony and using the word 'megaton'? they are setting themselves up to not live up to the hype

I can´t imagine Gears of War ever going to the PS3, unless the relation with Microsoft comes to an end.
Gears might be Epic´s Ip, but there is a publishing agreement with Microsoft, just like they had with Atari and then Midway for Unreal and Unreal Tournament.
Sure, Microsoft might only have the exclusive on the first 2 games, but i don´t believe that they will let it go.

As for Splinter Cell Conviction, Ubisoft already said that the game will not go to the PS3 ever.
So, either they are lying....or....errr....they are lying, but either way, they will be ones looking like asses if the PS3 version comes to be.

I still think it might be Star Ocean or Left 4 Dead, but if it is the last one, and the port is made by EA, i see the EA/Valve relation going down the drain.

why would ubisoft say that? damn it that game looks awesome :(. seriously tho y not, the other splinter cell games made there way eventually to ps2 and ps3, why not this one?

lol I hate the use of megaton.

Anyway -
Update: I think people need to get a grip on the size of this site and get a little perspective, we’re just a little fansite with a nice jump here… We appreciate the guesses and speculation, but come on, people, be realistic – this isn’t some mad rumour or something from a ‘mole’, but the title in question is something we think you’ll be interested in.

Yes, because whenever a developer says that they always stick to it no matter what. If you really think Conviction is going to stay a 360 exclusive forever, well let's say the odds are...not in your favor. At all.

I mean seriously, in this day and age of consoles, just about whenever any third party company refers to a retail title or series as exclusive it's assumed they mean timed exclusive except for a very few titles. Conviction might be one of those, but I wouldn't be holding any breaths on it

Has Ubisoft even said that Conviction wont "ever" go to the PS3? I thought they just dropped the "we have no plans for a PS3 version at this time" line. Anyway, this announcement isnt going to be SC:C, so we can move on from that.

To be fair, Ubi never bought Haze to 360... although sales sucked.

But I remember when Resident Evil 4 man said "I'll eat my hat before Resident Evil 4 comes to the PS2."

...

Hippie Hunter's Braid guess is probably the most accurate right now, but that's on PC too.

No we can't, because we don't move on around here. If you don't like that you can move on, but you can't because we don't move on around here. So you'll have to take it because you can. Or move on. Though you can't

Yeah, but I doubt anyone really wanted that game anyway. I believe it was Free Radical's last breath of air before going under

Actually, he said he would cut off his own head if it came to the PS2. Yeah, like that's what he literally claimed because he was so confident the title would sell enough and Capcom would back him up.

Yeah, it's been on PC and MAC for awhile now. The term exclusive only applies to consoles anymore it seems though. The main reason I doubted Braid was because it said they were talking to a studio about the game. With Braid there is no studio, there is a dude. Though I guess even just one person naming himself a company qualifies as a studio

I agree with you, in this day and age is weird for a 3rd party game to be exclusive, but this was what Ubisoft said a couple of days after E3:

Splinter Cell conviction is a true Microsoft exclusive title and there are no plans to have Splinter Cell Conviction on other platforms. There are several reasons behind this choice. First of all, Splinter Cell games are historically linked with Microsoft platforms. The first Splinter Cell on the original Xbox was one of the first games to fully exploit the console's technical possibilities. At that time, Microsoft really believed in the game potential and provided strong support to promote it. So, there is a "link of heart" between the franchise and the platform. Some games are like this (think of Final Fantasy for instance). The second reason behind this choice is purely linked to production. Having a single target platform means that we can optimize the game even further, because we only have one type of - console - hardware to support.

Like i said, if the game does indeed goes to the PS3, it means that Ubisoft was lying, which will not make it look good.

Yeah, but....Oh you know what, never mind. If you really think that means anything then you must have totally been on another planet these last few years of the gaming world

I would understand your persistence that it's not if they just gave the 'no plans at this time' line, but that's a pretty extensive paragraph describing why it's exclusive.

I have no persistence towards it, I'm just using my own common sense and logic here. Sure, that's a more detailed and thought out explanation, but like I said in the actual Conviction thread, it's the same song and dance we hear all the time from these developers and publishers nowadays.

I mean sure, it could be one of the few exceptions of this gen, but with the track record of Ubi and the franchise, plus the amount of money that's been put into the project, I find it doubtful. It doesn't particularly matter either way, but I'm simply keeping a real view on the situation and really only responded to IH. So I don't really see the problem.

and even tho splinter cell started on the xbox, they all made their way to ps2/ps3 eventually, im not sure if pandora tomorrow did but i know for a fact all the others did

You correct. All of them found their way to the PS2, including Pandora.
