Everyman
A girl gave me a fruit, and I saw myself unclothed
Im sent from the garden into the wild.
Looking back, oh, but I cant look back, Ill turn to salt.
I longed to be human
So I begged the fairy to make me one
I longed to be human
So I gave up fins, and now walk on knives
The heralds called me to action.
The Mentor, with his beard and his magic
Guided me and comforted me before I found the sword,
And slew the dragon
With eyes that shot suns and muscles tectonic,
The villains cowered, my chest bore my symbol
Truth and justice were my sigils
I had Great Power
My mentor lay bleeding
I had Great Responsibility
Then I saw the maid in the tower
I saw her green light across the water
I would go to Tartarus to save her
I would climb the Empire State to keep her
But my crimes repeled her
She left with that man
I looked back, and saw her fading
The god did not deceive me
My body hit the pavement
It wasnt the airplanes that did it
I sit smoking till my facts become elementary, dear
I miss garden, and my sled
I could have been a contender
I see the bottle saying Drink Me
Im not drinking that formula again, Edward could get loose
But dont pay me any mind, Im just your average guy, and I have work in a few minutes.
