Lovely.

American Beauty is amazing
Not from where I'm standing. It's pretentious, with oversimplified characters and with some terrible moral implications. It's certainly better than some stuff, but it's one of the most overrated films of all time.

Pfft, The Wizard Of Oz is awesome. Haven't seen a lot of the other movies, but to leave off Titanic is a crime. It truly does suck.

At the end of the day nobody can say that any movie is truely overrated because it's all opinion.

That being said, I'd put the first Superman and Batman movies on the list. I just don't see why people love those movies so much???

That can be said for just about every best-of, worst-of, overrated, underrated etc. list in exsitence. However, some hold more water than others, and this one just isn't that great.

I think that list is a joke. Come on, how on hell could be films like wizard of oz, american beauty, chicago, gone with the wind, 2001, an american in paris, easy rider, nashvile, mystic river, fantasia or jules and jim overrated? Too many masterpieces here.

I think the Sound of Music is overrated.... and so are all the harry potter movies. and happy feet...

I think every movie I don't like is overrated.

I agree with that list expect for Gond With The Wind and Wizard of OZ. These are all mostly Oscar winners and nominations. I agree with Fantasia...watched that the other night...boring as all hell...it's all classical music with 10 mins out of 2 hours with mickey mouse.

Cause most of them are just plain boring to watch and aren't really that moving either...Some are also dated. Gone With The Wind was excellent though. Only worth watching once though. 4 hr movies are not for me.

IMO, Citizen Cane should be on the list.

They have insulted some of the best movies of all time:eek:

Yeah, But American Beauty is one of my all time favorite films. So i dont agree with it being overrated. IMO.

I disagree with American Beauty and Clerks. :cmad: BOth are pretty good .

American Beauty - I thought it was ok
Chicago - Never seen it
Clerks. - It still makes me laugh
Fantasia - I like it. The soundtrack is a good sampling of classical music
Field of Dreams - It's ok, though I'm over the entire playing catch with my old man
Chariots of Fire - Never seen it
Good Will Hunting - Never seen it
Forrest Gump - Puts me to sleep
Jules and Jim - Never heard of it nor seen it.
A Beautiful Mind - It was ok.
Monster's Ball - Never seen it.
Moonstruck - Never seen it.
Mystic River - Never seen it.
Nashville - Never seen it.
The Wizard of Oz - I've outgrown it.
An American in Paris - Never seen it.
Easy Rider - I thought it was ok.
The Red Shoes - Never seen it.
2001: A Space Odyssey - Thought it was ok.
Gone with the Wind - Never seen it.

I saw American Beauty before I knew what "overrated" or "pretentious" or any of that garbage was, and it changed my freaking life. One of my favourite films. This list is bs.

*Ofcourse this is all opinion and ur take on what is "Overated'. Lot of these moives I just never saw or had the urge too. Ive heard of most, but just wasn't my style of movie.

Of the films I have seen on the list:
American Beauty: Yeah right. This movie was all kinds of awesome. The amount of depth in every frame is amazing.

Clerks: This is definitely one overrated POS. I really can't stand this film. Or any other Smith film for that matter.

Fantasia: Overrated? Maybe. But enough to make a top 20 list? Doubtful. Sure I was bored by it, but its just an animated symphony.

Good Will Hunting: I don't recall the film that well, but I do remember liking it, particularly the ending.

Forrest Gump: I'd agree with this. Still a good film though.

A Beautiful Mind: I'd agree with this too. I wanted to like the movie, but in the end I just couldn't. I loved Russel Crowe's performance though.

The Wizard of Oz: Wait, seriously? This doesn't deserve to be on the list.

Easy Rider: Oh yeah. This should be in the top five. I really can't understand why this film is so damn influencial. Its like an extended student film. And considering how they made it, thats what it basically is.

2001: A Space Odyssey: Oh hell no. I hate sci-fi films, but this film was ambiguous brilliance. Kubrick was a master and this is argueably his best film.

Gone with the Wind: Again, not the strongest memory of this film. And since I saw it when I was like 6 or 7, I don't think my notions on it now would really be a good review of the film.

Films iconic enough (i.e. no Batman Begins BS) that should be on the list: Titanic, Pulp Fiction, Raging Bull, Romero's Dawn of the Dead and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It's not that I don't like these films, its just that they really don't live up to the hype.

The Wizard of Oz is perfect begining to end. It cannot be overrated.

Mystic River?!?!?!?

Thats one of my favorite movies of all time, I cant believe someone would call it overrated, the acting is amazing, the music is amazing ,the story is amazing and it is shot beautifully.
