Premiere's Top 20 Most Overrated Films of All Time

Eh, while movies like American Beauty, Chicago, and A Beautiful Mind won Oscars, they're hardly very well-loved films. I agree with a few picks o nthe list, but overall, it doesn't seem to be that great, IMO. Especially since they had the audacity to put Wizard of Oz on it. :o

:cmad:

American Beauty
I totally agree. An ex-partner of mine begged me to watch it due to it being "the most beautiful film" he'd claimed to have ever seen. Not exactly a bad film, but not that great either.

Fantasia
I like it, but it's hardly Disney's best

Field of Dreams
Nice enough film, but not the world's best

Forrest Gump
I loved this film, and I thought Tom Hanks was fabulous in it, so I personally wouldn't call it overrated

The Wizard of Oz
This film irritates the hell out of me. I'm pleased to say that it wasn't on TV this Christmas. Yay!

Gone with the Wind
Great film. An epic.

I absolutely HATE this movie. Along with fire and brimstone, this s**t played continuously in a loop is my idea of hell.

The Wizard Of Oz......

is stupid as hell.

as people have said Titanic should be atleast top 5. cheesy script, boring and sentimental.

Cause most of them are just plain boring to watch and aren't really that moving either...Some are also dated. Gone With The Wind was excellent though. Only worth watching once though. 4 hr movies are not for me.
More of the 50% of that list are classics with an important cinema value.

American beauty: one of the best modern films.

Fantasia: one of the most original Disney classics.

Wizard of oz: timeless

Gone with the wind: the same

Mystic river: same with american beauty

Forrest gump: the same

Jules and jim: one of Truffaut's best films.

An american in paris: one of the best musicals ever and very original .

Chicago: one of the best modern musicals.

2001: a masterpice and one of the best and most important sc-fic films ever

Nashville: one of the best films of the 70s.

Easy rider: one of the films that changed hollywood in last 60s and first 70s.

Charriots of fire: amazing british film and one of the best sports films ever.

To call those films overrated seems doubtful at least for me.

Chicago, Forest Gump, and The wizard of Oz really don't deserve to be on that list imo
To be honest their list really really sucks :down

I think that the idea of 'over-hyped' is so...vague bc ANYTHING can be overhyped, esp when they're so much access to the media (ie internet).

However, I agree with 'A Beautfiul Mind'. It was tailor made to be an Oscar condender but it's a glossy and ok written movie.

Of the heavily nominated and hyped movies here is a list of movies I consider overrated, most of these are pretty recent:

Crash
Sideways
Chicago
The Pianist

Chicago was a steaming pile of turtle turds.

But Batman Begins was god! :batty:

WTF with people?!? How American beauty can be the most overrated movie?

Borat should have been #1 in this crappy list  :down

Fantasia the 4th most overrated film of all time? :cmad: Jesus christ why do they even bother making these lists?

Pulp Fiction, Raging Bull, Romero's Dawn of the Dead

Okay, Pulp Fiction and maybe even Dawn Of The Dead (even though I think they're brilliant)....but Raging Bull is almost a perfect film...if you disagree, you're wrong. :cmad:

That list just seemed to pick movies generally considered great and call them overrated. What a ****ty list.

What a ******ed list. No Titanic or Scarface?

I like Wizard of Oz and thats it, but whatever moron wrote that list should be chained up, tied to a big bleeding pile of meat, and dropped off a cliff into an ocean filled with sharks...and that's just for starters.
