Since there has been no "official" telling of the Weapon X story I think the movie adaptation should be like this:

The United States and the Soviet Union are locked in a secret conflict. On the surface, its just the Cold War, a race to obtain the best weapon, a missile. However, it is deeper than that. They are racing to create the greatest human weapon. The United States uses the recources of Japanese doctor, Dr. Darkwind. Together, with Coloniel William Stryker, they test on three subjects, a mysterious man from Candian Special Ops, known only as Logan, a man with ties to both canadian intellegence and the CIA black ops Victor Creed, and Darkwind's own daughter, Yuriko. All of these people have something in common, they are very skilled and highley trained, but they are also mutants- with the power to heal.

On the soviets side, hundreds of tests fail, all but one: Arkady Rossovich. They implanted carbanium trendils on him....adding that to his mutation to drain life forces away, and his hateful nature made him virtually unstoppable. Soon, he turned on the Soviets.

Desperate, and with no where to turn, the Soviets turned to the United States. They needed someone to stop project: Omega Red. From direct order of the President, Department H is called in to bring in the Weapon X test experiments, for their first battle.

(I know that I made some changes, like Department H, and Weapon X being part of the US. But I think that if you still had all of the characters come out of Canadian Special Ops, it could work. If the stroy is to take place around 1964 and is to take place between Russia and someone, it should be the US. However, I could always change it to have it in Canada, and have USSR be very uneasy having to ask an ally of America for help....OR, have it be an American funded project, in northern Alberta, Canada...something like that.)

Love it... nice plot... I think as long as you got the big three... Logan/Creed/Yuriko... and primary villain Omega Red.... you got a movie... cold war black ops CIA sounds about right for me... wouldn't mind if they added in some other guys involved in weapons X but those characters mentioned are simply a must...

Thanks....I just wish more people read this, lol.

I think I'll make more of a detailed outline, including more characters and plot lines.

Post it everywhere... makes perfect sense with the characters already established and the time period of the Cold War... this is pretty much a no brainer plot if we are getting only one Wolverine film

yeah i really like it also... the whole thing makes alot of sense to me

it sounds great, but how can Yuriko be in it without retconning X2?

Why does X2 need to be retconned for Yuriko to be Wolverine?

This would work as long as by the end of the film Sabretooth and Yuriko each have a falling out with Logan.

THey all split up at the end anyways...

Well Yuriko fought against Wolverine because of Stryker's mind control drug, and I think the tension between Creed and Wolverine will be pretty clear that as soon as the mission is over, they would gldly kill each other. I only see one problem with this, in X1 they never mention Sabertooth having adamantium (sp?).

He is Wolverine

No story needed. They are keeping him around based on Popularity only. If you did a Cast Away type Story where Wolverine is the only living breathing Human in the Movie. People would see it because its Wolverine

My plot:

The US and Soviet Russia are locked in a heated battle that shall be known as the Cold War in years to come. A race to gather the most destructive weapons known to man is ensuing. Nuclear tests are highly publicized yet mutant testing is entering the foreground as cunning and agile soldiers are needed on the front lines. The US's Weapon X facilites, headed by William Stryker, employed Dr. Kenji Oyama to secretly begin enhancement testing in Canada on subjects to be codenamed Wolverine, Sabretooth, Deadpool, and Maverick to combat the Russian's Super Soldier Program entitled The Omega Project, which translates to "the end." Patriotic soldiers with unique abilites far superior to ordinary humans, later to be referred to as mutants, are encouraged to come forward to serve their country. Yuriko, with extreme admiration for her father has already received adamantium enhacements in Japan due to her body's healing mutation Dr. Oyama explains.

Logan and Victor were fierce competitors on and off the battle field. They hate each other with such malice that they both answer the call to greater serve their country to try and out do each other. However, Logan, with his high healing factor, was soon recruited and the adamantium bonding operations began at Alkali Lake. He was the only to survive the adamantium bonding.

Wolverine wakes up disoriented and in pain. Blood is everywhere as he emerges from a water holding tank. He rips the tubes and needles out of his body and stares at 6 metal claws painfully portruding form his bloody hands and yells in pain. He claws his way out as white coated lab technicians are slashed and stabbed. Dr. Oyama stares in horror at his creation, Stryker smiling by his side. The operation was a success and Stryker wants the other enhancement operations to begin on Sabretooth, Maverick, and Deadpool.

Deadpool awakens at the screams of Wolverine and also escapes because the experiments caused him to be mentally unstable and have schizophrenic fits of rage. He hates everything related to Weapon X and vows to destroy it. In his escape, he managed to kill Dr. Oyama in Stryker's absence. After a quick run in with Wolverine, Deadpool somehow remembers Logan's affiliations with Weapon X and the deadly assasin tries his best to kill Wolverine.

Creed, aka Sabretooth, is explained that Dr. Oyama is dead and that he will not recieve the adamantium enhancements due to the Dr.'s death. He sees the slashed lab techs bloody white coated bodies with Dr. Oyama in the center. He blames Logan and vows to destroy him.

Yuriko hears word of her father's death and vows to destroy his killer, whom everyone thinks is Wolverine. Stryker, the evil puppet master he is, is the only one whom knows the truth. He is happy to watch mutants destroy themselves if they cannot be controlled for his personal gain.

Omega Red, the only survivor of the Russian's experiments, emerges with carbonadium tentacles to use in combat and release a biological weapon that could possibly kill millions of innocents. Maverick is dispatched to eliminate the threat but is soon killed by Omega Red.

Logan and Victor are captured and dispatched to destroy Omega Red. Deadpool secretly follows as the battle begins. Sabretooth leaves Wolverine in the heat of battle with Omega Red to saudistically watch him struggle. Deadpool breaks in to kill Wolverine but is unsucessful. Sabretooth then enters and helps a tired Wolverine destroy Omega Red. He then takes advantage of his weakened enemy, Wolverine, and tries to kill him but fails.

Fights:
Act 1: Wolverine vs Lab techs(lab techs and Dr. Oyama die), Wolverine vs Sabretooth(both survive).
Act 2: Omega Red vs US soldiers(soldiers die), Omega Red vs Maverick(Maverick dies), Deadpool(with a lot of high tech weaponry) vs Wolverine(both survive).
Act 3: Deathstrike vs Wolverine(both survive...Deathstrike barely survives and limps back to Stryker), Wolverine vs Deadpool vs Omega Red vs Sabretooth(Deadpool dies by Omega Red, Omega Red dies by Sabretooth, Sabertooth and Wolverine survive.)

Sabretooth is recruited by Magneto...YEA! Ian Mckellan cameo and Logan begins cage fighting to try and remember his past.

The only problem I got with this is that there is too much stuff going on in one movie... as much as we want to see all the characters from Weapons X... I strongly doubt we'll see them all... I think cameos would suffice... I like Omega as the main villain since its a prequel probably during the 60's and he fits in the cold war and all... I think Sabertooth and Yuriko should be the main supporting characters... I just don't think we'll see everyone... (Maverick, Silver Fox, Deadpool, Mastodon, etc...) Maybe cameos but that's it.

^ It was late and I was just throwing something together. Maverick dies in the 2nd act and that is really all we see of him. Deadpool is a great villian IMO and should be there to antagonize Wolverine. I didn't mention Silver Fox, Mastodon, etc... But I totally agree with you on overloading characters. I want Omega Red as the main villian and Sabretooth as well. The rest are just supporting characters to have quick battles with. I highly doubt they will go into a Yuriko-Logan love story because that could get really complicated.

I'm thinking more along this line:

The main story is present day Wolverine in the US, just before X1. Some event happens that leads him on a path to unravel a mystery (someone trying to kill him maybe?). That path unfolds as it leads him to Canada and Weapon X and as it unfolds, so does his past. As he uncovers each piece of his past the story drops into a subplot and goes back in time introducing Sabretooth, Deathstrike, Stryker, Weapon X, Department H, his origin, Japan etc. in a smaller stories that tie into the main plot. As he unfolds the mystery he unfolds the truth about himself only to ultimately face one of his greatest enemies, fight, and then suffer a trauma so bad he forgets his past again. The movie ends in Canada with him entering the cage match bar.

As I said before, think of it along the lines of The Red Violin. Several small plots in the past that tie into the present story.

I like that but you have to be able to tie in X1 and X2 as well. He would have to loose his memory somehow at the end to make it all connect. I want Wolverine to have his powers/claws at the beginning of the movie so I hope we start off with Weapon X.

Yes...that's why I say he needs to suffer some trauma at the end which causes him to reboot. This could be covered in dialogue during Weapon X flashbacks when they discuss his powers. It could be something as simple as, "His healing factor even effects his mind and when faced with sufficient mental pain and angst, in order to block it out his regenerative abilities will supress his memories." And the back stories explaining Sabes, Yuriko and Stryker should tie back into X1 and X2 well.

They are going to have a tough time trying to tie in a great story with all the essential characters needed to make a good movie and have it connect to X1, X2, and X3.

I totally agree. That's why I think they need a plot that moves between multiple stories and timelines.

Do you guys think there is going to be a single "Wolverine" film that wraps it all up for the character, or that this is the beginning of a "Wolverine" franchise of films?

Probably the beginning. I am starting to wonder if this will be a prequel or a sequel spinoff. I know someone said it is neither but it has to be one or the other. If they want Cox back as Stryker...this might actually be a sequel spinoff because of Cox's age being a factor. Jackman has aged quiet a bit as well.

I'm kind of hoping that chronologically this falls after the x-trilogy, just with flashbacks revealing his past.

I think it would be stupid to have a wolverine franchise and an x-men franchise led by wolverine both running at the same time... I hope that this is a sequel/spinoff where he goes his own way so the x-men can go their own way and be developed without him.

Alot of these sound good but Stryker seemed to be introducing Wolverine to Deathstrike when she fought him.
