Any of you guys read Gates of Fire? Bloody good book and gives a more indepth veiw of Spartan life. Recommended! Good as a comparison piece to 300...

I own 2 copies. I went to his website and email him and I got a reply from him too. I own and have read all his books. In my opinion a cool guy for replying to fan so soon.

Here is his reply to my email.

Many thanks for the kind words, Georgios. As for "Gates" as a movie, it
will be a long time before anything happens ... if it ever does. "300" is
not helping, that's for sure. Universal Studios has the option but the
project has stalled, largely because "sword and sandal" movies have not done
well lately.

Thanks for asking!

All my best,
Steven Pressfield

Here is my email to him:

Hello
Is there going to be a film adaptation of your novel Gates of Fire? I've
looked at the up coming 300 and I feel that your version of the battle is
more human and real. Also as a person of Greek decent I feel your novels
in my opinion honor my ancestors. I hope that a film version of Gates of
Fire comes to the screen in the near future. Lastly I look forward to
reading your upcoming novel, The Afghan Campaign.

Honestly, while I would love to see a film version of Gates of Fire, it is definately for the best that it wait a while. People are gettting tired of epic battle movies and it would be a shame if this movie was passed over by most just because they think it will be a Troy ripoff. I say give it several years and people will love to see this as a film.

And that is definately cool that he emailed you back. He seems like a pretty nice and cool guy.

Gates Of Fire is one of the best books i have ever read, i recommend it to everyone!
