Proof(D12) was shot Dead this morning...

Well, to be honest, "KISS" mostly sang about getting laid and breaking free and having good times, not being a thug and carrying guns around. To push it even further, lead members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley NEVER did drugs or drank alcohol, and still don't to this day. I'll give you Smashing Pumpkins and Limp Bizkit though.........

You get an "A" for effort though.................

You still haven't defended the name 'Kiss". Nobody said anything about their lifestyles.

EXACTLY.

He came in, guns blazing and ready to make a HUGE point in the defense of KISS.....and totally missed the point. Good job.

Yeah and 'KISS' is just so much more sensible? Or 'Smashing Pumpkins'? 'Limp Bizkit' now there's inspiration for ya! Get the **** out of here, if you're down to judging people by their titles then you've reallt run out of gas.
Smashing Pumpkins and Limp Bizkit are the band names, you dolt. Fred Durst doesn't run around calling himself Limb Bizkit, and I'm pretty sure Billy Corgan does not introduce himself as Smashing Pumpkins.

Yeah, he definitely knew that. He was making the point that some bands have names that are (subjectively) as stupid as you consider Proof's stage name to be.

Fair point, but I just find it odd that musicians (what's this, an indie fan referring to rappers as musicians?!) would choose the most ridiculous monikers for those to refer to them by, as opposed to band members, who for the most part are referred to by name (I know there are exceptions, Tre Cool springs to mind).

It's just one of those things that always struck me as odd.

It's not likely poverty. A lack of father in most of these homes is a more likely cause. The typical male response, when growing up without an adequate father figure is either to become milquetoast or become a hyper male who responds aggressively to all situations.
What a gross generalization. Not supirsed coming from you and your narrow minded view of the world. I grew up with out a dad I am normal guy. No timidness, no agression problems. Typical bull**** Jonty post.

Guess it's a difference in cultures. African Amercians in general tend to nickname each other more than Caucasians.

I know, I know. You'd just think that these nicknames would be, oh I don't know, good.

How do you know they don't mean something to an inside group of friends? Why didn't you make your SHH handle your real name? You like Human Torch. I like Colossus and Spoony Luv the Crank Yankers puppet. Simple as that.

Tons of dope names in Hip Hop, tons of whack ones too. It all depends on who you think of.

Same as guys like Slash, Flea, Buckethead, Dimebag, etc.

Just a stage name that the musicians either identify with or think sounds cool.

It's a tendency, not an absolute.

It is well known that boys that grow up without a father in the home are more prone to psychological and sociological problems of all kinds.

The fact that some kids can come out ok, even in the worst of circumstances, does not mean that those circumstances have no effect on most kids.

Because some people are still *****ing about rap music. It happens in every thread like this.

Since you didn't actually state an opinion, other than saying that yours is a strong one, it could conceivably be on either side or both.
Uh yes I did, you are an idiot.

Uh yeah you're right, this statement has everything I need to know about what you think about rap. It's like I've gone to college and graduated.

Thanks for sharing.

I used to like rap music but now I mostly hate it. Most of it is degrading to women and black people in general. I wish most of it would go away.

On another note: I thought that K-West was different but he turned out to be the same selfish bastard (I would put the N-word but some people might be offended) as the rest of em. I hope more and more of these idiots are killed, they are the last thing that black people need.
Read this damn post War idiot.

So why aint you listening to people like Mos Def, Lauryn Hill Common, Talib Kweli, The roots, Jean Grae, Little Brother, Foreign Exchange and dudes like that? They aint talking about negative ****. There's whole movements and regions that dont even adhere to the gangsta style.

It's a thing that came, to a large extent, from punk culture. Punk and hip-hop were closely tied in the early days, since the people in the movements liked each other's music and neither genre was really socially acceptable in the early days. Punks have had strange nicknames from the beginning...Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious, Iggy Pop, and Richard Hell leap immediately to mind.

I do listen to the good stuff, I just said that most of it is crap and it is.

Not really, only the mainstream stuff might be negative but if the music sounds good, no one worried about the lyrics

how old are you if you dont mind me asking?
