Prototype

One thing I like a lot more in inFamous....the whole "superhero/supervillain" comicbook aspect of the story.
same here considering Im a comic fan

Is it just me, or has the main character in Prototype changed since the first times we saw him in 2007? I've been keeping an eye on this game since I heard Hulk Ultimate Destruction developers were behind it, and since then, it seems they changed his look a little.

Honestly, I have seen demos and previews, read the storylines, and somebody on one of their teams had to leak some **** at some point because the similarities are a little too close.

From the videos I've seen Prototype looks more like a balls to the wall action games where you're basically running around like a madman destroying anything and everything in your path. InFamous looked more focused and not so all over the place. There's also the climbing and running mechanics in InFamous that kind of throws back to Sucker Punch's Sly Cooper and I've not seen anything like that from Prototype.

Also, isn't there an alignment system in InFamous that brings you from Hero to Anti-Hero, does Prototype have that?

I also know in Prototype your power is of shape shifting and in InFamous it's electric-based powers. Also, I know in Prototype you can hijack vehicles and stuff like GTA and I've not seen any of that in InFamous stuff I've seen

I'm no expert on either, just going by what I've seen from videos and screens. They both definitely are the same concept (free-roaming, open-ended superhero experience), but the actual gameplay looks pretty different from what I've seen. Don't know about storywise, though

lol...this whole Infamous and Prototype thing people keep bringing up is rediculous.

The only reason people are comparing them is becase they are both big free roaming games coming out around the same time.

Asides from that, similarities between the two are a few.

The protagonists seem way too similar for my tastes....average guy gains powers, he can be either good or evil depending on what he does, etc.

That is in Prototype? I thought it was like a preset story and you had to be an anti-hero.

Prototype does seem to be more the "F up NYC" type...

Prototype reminds me of Hulk:Ultimate Destruction .Which is a great thing.

the difference is story wise prototype is about some one that found out he's a private military project that escaped and the rest of the project they worked on that involved him is infecting people in nyc and he's just wants to know why he's not normal and why their attacking him, along with the out of control virus they unleashed. so he's doing any thing to find out what's going on. but unlike infamous he doesn't care about be a hero or anit- hero. so even if it looks like at times he's doing evil he's only attacking those infected with the virus and those priavte military guys involved in this to find out. but still doing evil things to get the job done.

that's why there's the web of intrigue in the game he's finds out pieces to the mystery of his past through others he's killed and absorbed memories. watch the developers walkthroughs that tell about the story in game trailers.com's site for the story if you can't find them let me know. I'll put it up for you and from other places as well.

infamous is more of near classic( their doing modern type of it) becoming a super hero stories ordinary guy minding his own busyness wakes up after an accident and has super powers and tries to stop the crime in the town he lives in which the crimes were what inadvertently gave him his powers. his original occupation is an urban explorer.

to be honest, its a fair confusion bc there are obvious similiarities between the 2 titles

All this should sort out your confusion cause like I said up top the stories are different. plus game play. plus their powers aren't the same. one's a shape shifter the other guy is a electrical manipulator. big difference's here. prototype it's mostly self service in what the character has to deal with. he doesn't care bout saving any one, or doing anything else that doesn't revolve around him self. Infamous you can go ether of three ways good, grey area and possibly near evil, if the game allows you to do so in game.

The difference to me is that I'm sort of interested in InFamous, whereas I'm not at all interested in Prototype.

It's not just the story. I mean that's obviously quite different it seems, but if you look at the gameplay videos for both it's looking at two totally separate types of gameplay

Other than they both involve super powers of some sort, and both characters at one point wore hoodies (one of them has since removed said hoody from the character) there is pretty much nothing similar about the two. I guess they're both free roam, but at this point saying two games are similar because of that is like saying Doom 3 and Portal are similar because they're both first person games.

I'm pretty interested in both games and think the only real similarity between the two is that they are open world action games.

I got them mixed up a couple of times but here's how to tell them apart.

inFAMOUS
The city has that " the future is taken over by dictator" look.

The protagonist gets into an accident and has electrical-based powers.

The enemies have powers too but it isn't explained how they got theirs.

Powers evolve different ways depending on if you're good or bad.

Prototype
The city looks normal.

The protagonist is an experiment gone wrong and has creepy shadow-based powers.

The enemies are the army and other militia.

Powers evolve depending on how you use them throughout the game.

------------

If that doesn't helom here's the simpler version

inFAMOUS
Player has shaved head and electical powers

Prototype
Player has on a hoodies and does creepy shadow-tentacle attacks.

I like the videos that I've seen so far of this game. Interesting character...and very powerful. He has superhuman strength, shapeshifting, speed, agility, durability, and healing, WOW!

Prototype: Missions Variety Trailer:

"I can confirm that you can kill zombies with helicopter blades". lol

Looks really good, but for some reason I'm not really interested in it at all.

Merged.

I'm not interested either. Maybe it's because we're getting so many great games for established superheroes already, but the thought of playing as some random, shapeshifting Venom wannabe (he makes his hands into claws and "eats" people) doesn't really appeal to me. The story doesn't sound all that great, either.
