Hey guys, so yesterday me and a mate of mine where playing resident evil 5 online, goin through story mode got right to the end of the game. then after a while the game completely froze. it did this on both systems but hs was ok i think. On mine however i couldnt even bring up the in game Menu. i tried turing it off by the power but it didnt seem to respond so i unplugged it...( i know not the best move)

So when I powered it up again nothing really seemed to happen, so i left it for a bit. When i came back to it everything powered up and was cool. But now after a while the PS3 menu freeezesand goes a little bit pixelated. i can still hear it moving but on screen it dosent move.

I think i have a solution, im gonna try formatting the hardrive. to me this seems like a software problem. So bascially i need to know a couple of things.

Backing up? do i just plug in an external harddrive and then go to the back up utility and let the ps3 do its thing? And also that would back up my game save files right? thats the only thing i care about.

And also my PSN ID i cant for the life of me remember what i put as my password, is there a way to get a " i forgot my password" email?

Has anyone else had this happen to them?? ( the XBM freezing?)
Thanks in advanced.

Ive never heard of that happening.

Yep, the backup utility will backup the drive and allow it to be recovered as you currently have it. Some downloadable stuff tie to your PSN may not backup though. Your game saves will also backup. You can also save them manually to a USB stick by going into the Game Saves utility and selecting copy to move them

As far as your password, you should be able to recover it. Try from your account management on your PS3

Thanks for the answer Havok.

Ive got a little update...its actually got worse now. i thought i might as well try restoring the system settings to default to see if that done anything, all went ok the system finished what it was doing and restarted. Then nothing, power on black screen. turned it off from the back and on again ( the power button wasnt working) and i got like a set up screen i guess you could call it. its was black had foreign text on it telling me to do somthing, i think it was saying to plug a controller in. But then it seemed to pixelate again and freeze like it was doing.

i dunno what the hells going on lol. Im calling sony tommorrow to see what they can do if anything. if not ill have to buy a new one, least ill get a bigger hardrive i guess, but ill be losing the backwards compatibility(sp)...:csad:

What the hell. I have never heard of that!

Don't know. Mine froze and I had to reformat, but I never got any foreign text...

it wa so wierd. it had a picture of a controller like a diagram i guess saying to plug it in? then by the side it had like japanese text etc and no english text. very odd. if i get it again ill take a picture.

Is it possible the defualt langauge on your PS3 somehow got changed?

ha ha im so dumb, i tried turning it on again to see if tht screen would come up and what it was is the set up guide for the ps3 for when you first turn it on.when it was on that screen with the controller it had english text at first then it went to the foreign text. it must of froze on the foreign text part.

i got to the part where you set up the net connection then it froze again. im gonna try it again tommorrow see if i cant get through it all with out it freezing.
