This thread is for anyone who has problems with their PS3. If anyone has any problems, post here.

Coincedentally, I have a problem. PS3 games, some PS2 games= no problem

DVDs however=no dice.

For some reason, the screen goes blue (as if there's no signal) and nothing happens.

We've tried different cables, and the PS3 region is 2 which is right for Europe but still no luck. Help!

Have you tried calling Sony support? I personally haven't heard this problem before

How the hell can I get my Blu-Ray DVDs to play in 720p without the bloody console downgrading the resolution to 480p? And no, I don't want to keep switching my res to 1080i every single time I want to watch a movie.

I've tested games on both, didn't seem to notice a big difference but then again my HDTV is 23" so I wouldn't see it as much then on a bigger television

I have a 28 inch Sony HDTV and yes, there is a difference, at least noticeable enough to bug me while I am playing in 1080i that it could look even better on 720p.

Sorted my problem, switched the options to accommodate the DVDs by switching from HDMI to AV cables.

Too much effort, IMO, I'll just use the PS2 to play DVDs. Bummer

As for the Bluray, I've not got any yet, so I can't help.

I don't know if this is a problem anyone can help me out with but when I plug my PS3 into the TV I get this humming noise. I had it at home and no problems then I came up to school and now I get this humming noise. I'm hoping it's just the TV and not the PS3. Also, what's very strange is that when I switch to cable I still get the humming noise even when the PS3 is turned off. The only time the noise stops is when I unplug the power cable. I never had this problem with the PS2 and it's the same tv. Anyone have any similar problems?

If the power is off on the PS3, and the humming persists are you SURE its the PS3 and not the tv?

If it is I ca'nt really help you, but you should be proud of the fact that either your PS3 is magical, or that you have solved the energy crisis by having power appear out of thin air.

Sounds worrying, I'd directly phone Sony. If you sort it out post your antidote. Sorry.
