For the next couple of months Queen Rania of Jordan is going to be answering questions, posted and submitted by youtubers, regarding Arab stereotypes, especially concerning women and the Arab/Muslim world.

I think this is a great opportunity for all of you to submit questions and spark a real dialog between the west and the Mid-East and to dispel a LOT of the myths and misinformation concerning the Mid-East region.

Introduction from Queen Rania:

Week 1:

Week 2; Arab Women:

I'd like this to be a civilized dialog, so please refrain from flaming others. I do, however, hope that you'll send her a message or question.

That's just asking for trouble.

That's just asking for trouble.

Yes, in a way. But, the effort, by her, is highly welcomed and admirable. She's a wonderful figure for women's (and human) rights. There is a Tsunami of stereotypes about Arabs and Muslims, in general, especially here in the US, so this will hopefully show that we're not that different.

Watch the videos, give it a try.

Actually she will do very well with this I think..........she has her feet in both worlds, planted very firmly................I think this is a good idea.

She is one of a group of moderate Muslims that really need to speak up and speak out, and with their voice, I think they can make a big difference.

She's very elegant and well spoken. Quite beautiful, too. A very admirable thing that she's undertaking and trying to do; breaking down all these silly stereotypes and getting past them to the one thing we all are a part of, the human element, is always a worthwhile thing.

I know, right! The King is one lucky man.

The fact that she's such a strong and outspoken figure (for human and women rights), for me, makes her beauty immeasurable.

Strong and intelligent women =

It's good to be the King

It's good to show people that all muslim are not the same . There are variations and separate occurences in the different countries. In a time like this , we need to see that.

Exactly. The world is growing increasingly smaller and smaller everyday and it's about time we ALL start regarding each other as neighbors. Well that's my wish, anyway.

It's a bizarre idea when you think about it, but not exactly unwelcome. I hope it's a success.

I wonder how much spam she'll have to wade through to get a serious query

Yeah, supe.....but this goes so much further than a feeling of neighbors..........this "hate" between the religions covers centuries, and it is from the inside out............Islam is so much younger than the other religions, and it has to go through its growing pains, just as they have.....................I think the moderate Muslims will have to pull a Martin Luther style Reformation........they have to stand up. IMO, they are the key to stopping terrorism......

Just a hunch, but I have a feeling she will never see ANY of the spam......lol

She will probably see, ONLY the questions pertaining to her topic.

This sounds like a wonderful experiment. I hope it goes well.

You're absolutely right. We're starting to see that happen now. We have Queen Rania, Turkey's Islamic community is reforming some of the hadiths, and removing what are know by Islamic Jurists (and the community in general) as "weak hadiths" that in some ways contradict Islamic teachings or could be manipulated to justify horrific acts.

There are MANY American Sheikhs that are just amazing lecturers. Sheikh Khalid Yassin and Yusef Estes, I could go on and on.

Now that's what Queen should look like!!
