I was wondering if anybody could tell me, because I'd like to know before I buy them, but in the following stories, is Batman depicted with his psychotic, assh*&e persona or his heroic, human persona:

1. Blind Justice
2. Batman and the Monster Men
3. Batman and the Mad Monk
4. The Man Who Laughs
5. The Killing Joke

1. IDK my BFF Jill
2. Human, I guess
3. Same as above
4. Human
5. He was nice in this one.

Well, what about the Knightfall saga? And could anybody tell me at what point in the comics exactly did they start to portray Batman as an psychotic, unlikable character?

Batman was made "harder" post-crisis (but in the beginning there was not much difference to pre-crisi), but the real Psycho-Batman rose with Legacy/Catacylsm/No Man's Land.

You're right about that. In stories from the late 80's such as Blind Justice and A Death in the Family, he was written a little more serious but still maintained his heroic, witty side. But you're basically saying that he started to become an unlikable character after the Knightfall saga, right?

Actually, Bruce was a class-A assh0le in 'Blind Justice'.

I have a question about a Batman book but I didn't want to post a new thread, so I'll post it here. In "The Batman Chronicles volume 2", are the stories just as serious as they were in volume 1? They're not like that campy TV show are they? Is the Joker still a cold-blooded killer? Basically, is it worth buying?

Thanks in advance.

The Batman comics were only "campy" during the time of the TV show. The Silver Age stories where not much different than those of other characters. They were more light-hearted and fantastic and perhaps not really fitting for Batman but not campy. They were for kids.

To your question: Batman doesn't kill anymore, but for example, a gangster took a gun at the end of a story and commited suicide and Batman said "It's probably better that way". Yes, the Joker still kills (the story where he lightens up a little bit is "The Joker walks the last mile", but this is later). It's still stuff for kids, like Chronicles I.:ninja:

Is "The Joker walks the last mile" in "The Batman Chronicles volume 2"?
