Question about internet and routers

I just moved from my apartment to a house that has cable/internet....one room has a computer with the modem

in my room, do I need a separate modem or just a router to get internet or what??

Use the router with the computer that is using the modem and do you have a desktop or a laptop and what is the service? (Verizon, At&t, ect)

well the house computer has the modem, and each bedroom has a cable connection I have my laptop (which is being replaced next month)

Ok, just connect your router to your house computer and connect your laptop with the router with Wifi

is there anyway to just plug another modem into a cable connection and run my laptop and 360 off of that?

It will be easier just to get the cable, connect it to the modem, and connect that with a networking cable to the router. Then run WiFi off of the router for your other devices. Make life a lot simpler.
