Does anyone know if the plan for them is to gain rights to all of Marvel's characters? If so, is there any sort of timeline for this? I would love to see Wolverine and Spider-Man joining The Avengers... or just plain seeing Spider-Man done by Marvel themselves.

The only thing I can think of that I would not like about Marvel doing ALL of their characters' movies is that movies like The Punisher might not be made, as it's not as popular for a major studio to do when they could be working on a huge blockbuster like Iron Man.

Hopefully,Marvel would know that certain comic characters should be rated R and be in the hands of another studio since I think they would PG-13ify their rated R like comic book characters. I really like the Punisher,a Marvel guy like him is better off as a rated R movie.

I doubt Marvel ever gets Spider-Man back. I have no idea how the Sony contract works, but they will keep their grip on it until they die.

From my understanding any studio that has rights to a Marvel character but doesn’t use them within 5 years, the rights revert back to Marvel.

So by Fox making a Wolverine movie; lets them keep the X-Men rights for another 5 years.

That's interesting to know. 5 years. So, does that mean they could pick up Daredevil soon and make a good movie out of it? Hmm...

So Daredevil a flop is eventually a good thing, huh. :)

Um if this is true than Marvel has already retrieved Daredevil and Elektra this year, and they will get back Blade next year. Good to hear.

The Elektra spinoff would keep Elektra at least out of play, and if Wolverine counts as an X-Men film, than Elektra might also stop the transfer of Daredevil's rights for a few years yet.

DD can be good without Elektra showing up. She should have been saved for the sequel anyway.

I agree.

Love to see an R-rated Moon Knight movie.

Does anyone have any reference to whether it really is 5 years?

Everytime I hear this, it depresses me... They must of been drunk and desperate when they signed these contracts.
Especially concerning the X-Men, there is such a large stable of characters there, that they could easily keep the rights into the next century, and I'm not even joking.

*****.

I'm sure Columbia would eventually give up Spider-Man. I don't think they would be able to keep using him in movies and get the amount of success they would shoot for. Fox with X-Men will probably last, and I'm sure Fantastic Four will turn out going back to Marvel sooner or later. It does suck that X-Men could go forever without going back to Marvel.
