You people are taking the post a little too seriously. I am not trying to say that the film is some under cover neo-nazi propaganda. I’m just pointing out the irony that in a movie where the primary characters are robots and thus technically without race one of the Autobots has enough stereotypical attributes to be ‘raced’ and considered black, and he is the only Autobot who dies.

It’s just pointing out that old Hollywood cliché about the black sidekick always dies. This point has been made in many other films and shows, like the Scary Movie franchise, Family Guy, and I’m sure Samuel L. Jackson has mentioned it in one of his roles. And the racism I talk of is not the angry/hate/white supremest racism it’s complicit racism.

That article was stupid. But I do think Bay movies are horribly cliched and (everyone knows) politically conservative skewed. This criticism has haunted Bay for years and years. I think he tried to be a little more even-handed in Transformers. We had the ******ed puerto rican and Indian Outsource Guy (picking his nose no less!) BUT we also had the kooky white surfer dude (Sam's best friend). So all cliches were covered!

Agreed. People do this with every single movie these days. Some people tried to make these kinds of arguments against LOTR, and guess what, it didnt work, and neither does this.

BTW AVEITWITHJAMON, have you seen The Bourne Ultimatum yet? I was looking at your sig for movies of 2007 and noticed it wasnt there. If you havent seen it, you should. I would argue it to be even better than Transformers.

The dialogue by JAZZ was originally started by African-americans, but in year 2007, you go to any junior high or high school and everyone is talking like that - whites, hispanic and Asian. How do you know that JAZZ is not playing a stereotypical ******, which is already cliched in movies as well? It can be considered rascist to consider JAZZ as a black man. And in the realm of Michael Bay Transformers reality, the main black actors in the movies were not playing "cliched" black, one was a smart military dude (Tyrese) and the other was a genius hacker (Anthony Anderson) whom has issues with his grandma (he lives at home and has issues with family - that's not a "black" thing, it's a computer-geek thing). Even calling IRONHIDE a black Transformer is rascist, because his color is all-black and he is a kick-ass weapons specialist with an instinct to fight first? If he's black, then that's rascist.

If we are talking current black "cliches" in cinema, than RATCHET is the African-American Transformer, because he is the non-violent medic. That's the current stereotypical cliche in hollywood now - in Hollywood, african-americans are now head of corporations, presidents, judges, geniuses, etc...Nothing wrong with that, but now that can be analyzed as reverse-rascism!

Ya see, everything can be analyzed to whatever outome one wants!



Furthermore, how come no one is saying anything rascist about FRENZY. As JAZZ was voiced by an African-american actor, so was FRENZY. And guess what? FRENZY got killed!!!! Two black Transformers got killed!!! And not just killed, but they both get killed in a demeaning rascist way - JAZZ gets ripped in half without even fighting, so he's all talk. And FRENZY accidently chops off his own head! No white Transformer would chop off his own add accidently! How demeaning and rascist! Michael Bay should be sued

Cyrusbales, if you replying to my post, i just want to tell you that i was being sarcastic, and TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE is not rascist in one bit.


The only thing that I thought was shocking in the whole film was the robot peeing scene, and the masterbation talk scene. I thought that was a bit too much for a movie that has a lot of kids watching. I'm not against those scenes, it just took me for surprise, because this is a movie based on a cartoon for kids.

I was just commenting on the article in general. It is racist, but not intentionally, it uses a stereotype rather than creating a character, unfortuantely the stereotype is a victim of institutionalised racism.

A number of years ago, when Phantom Menace was coming out, some gal wrote an article in the local newspaper complaining about how they failed in showing a proper racial balance in the movie. She whined about how since Darth Vader was voiced by a black man that Lucas had completely blown it when Vader's helmet is removed at the end of Return of the Jedi and there's a white guy in the suit and they failed again when they cast a white kid to play Anakin. I wrote to the newspaper that the lady should get a clue. Vader fathered two very white children, it stands to reason that he'd be white too.

Religion and Race has always, and will always, be blindly hardcore discussed and nit-picked.

And the movies where this whole TIRED TIRED TIRED cliche-driven stereotype scenes and actors are blatantly tacked on for entertainment should be ****in removed. These movies, like Soul Plane or Romper Stomper, should never be released. Any movie that comes out that targets a certain race or religion and shines it in the limelight fuels this garbage fire, and most the movies are absolutely terrible anyhow.
