So going back to when Rainbow Six was first released, which was better? The game or the book?

Have not read the books nor bothered much about the video-games story's (or even remember them), the gameplay was the attraction for the most part. Tactical slow paced one shot kills were you could plan out routes, gear and have alot of control over the your squad and what-not made the game stand out from the crowd as there are hoards of run-in-gun shooters around imo. Wither it was flagging sales or an attempt to pull in a larger crowd or whatever I personally found Vegas very dissapointing, they pretty much turned it into Gears Of Rainbow.

Splinter Cell is diffrent and very good, I wouldn't argue either way, just that it's diffrent. Don't much care about the story's in those games either, again the gameplay is the attraction.

I'm not going to vote, as I haven't read the book, so it wouldn't be fair for me to say the game is better. I will say that I definately enjoyed the game quite a bit. However like kez, I never cared much about the story in these games.

I was a big fan of all the Tom Clancy games up until around Ghost Recon 2. After that the entire "metaseries" started going downhill. The only exceptions being Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and Rainbow Six Vegas (Different, but fun.)

But yeah, Tom Clancy games from 1998 to 2005 were pretty good for the most part.

Hey, I'm crashing this thread so I don't have to make my own thread for a RSV question I have. My friend just bought the game, and his second controller is a Logitech "Cordless Precision". When him and someone else were playing before I got back they tried to do two player, and the Logitech controller didn't work, so they gave up. When I messed with it, I changed what the controllers were set as numbers wise, and I realized controller two would work, but not controller one, is that a glitch, or is it really because the 2nd controller is not a Sony one?

I absolutely loved the games, especially the first two of which I have very fond memories. And people should really check out Bill Brown's amazing score in Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear. Real classy stuff.

Can't say anything about the books though.

The book is better than all of the games because it has a story worth remembering. I have a copy of the book that i havent read in quite some time, might be time to dust it off.

I loved the orig R6 game just as much as i love the new games tho.

So does anyone know if RSV the first game is picky, cuz COD4 worked with the Logitech controller just fine.
