It’s been a really unpleasant couple of years for everyone, so let’s have some positivity. What random acts of kindness have you taken part in, or has been shown to you?

I was taking out the trash at work one night and a manager actually stopped me and thanked me for all that I do. I actually stopped and stared for a moment, which was awkward since I was wearing a mask and he couldn’t have seen my jaw hit the floor. I just got divorced and his one “thank you” was more honest appreciation than my in laws showed me in years.

I used to be a greeter at Walmart and one day an old lady grabbed my wrist and gave me a handful of mints. I had no idea what she was doing until I looked in my hand. She closed my hand and said “Something for you when you stand at the door.”

I try my hardest to be the kindest, warmest person I can be in any one situation to people I know, or those I don't.

In terms of those received, I've just started in a new 'side' job to my main self-employment to help with income following the Covid Lockdown and it's affect and I am a Type 1, which I declared to them and how it affects my physical ability to do 'what my body can't do' as well as it used to, and with it being a physically demanding role in a warehouse, I'm going to need more breaks than others, shall we say, and my bosses said 'Jim, it's not a race and you have nothing to prove to us, we know you are a hard worker and you'll give 100%, you're doing an amazing job'. Those few words were more support for my disability and condition than many health 'professionals' have shown in compassion over the years and previous employers certainly.
