Quantumania Rate and Review Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Just came back. I liked the movie, definitely flawed, but I enjoyed it a lot (way more than Love and Thunder and Multiverse of Madness), so not sure why it's getting such bad ratings. But hey, opinions always differ. A solid 8/10.

Just got back from watching Quantumania and I very much enjoyed it

I really don’t get the overly bad reviews. I would put this movie on par with Ant-Man & The Wasp but nowhere as strong as the first Ant-Man movie

Movie did have some pacing issues and the CGI & visuals weren’t as polished as with the previous films. Also, Luis and the rest of Scott’s crew were definitely missed

Cassie is a great addition and thought she did well. Jonathan Majors killed at as Krang. Dude was much more menacing and powerful here than what we saw from his variant in Loki.

It was nice to see Janet & Hank have bigger roles and take more part in the action.

Overall, a very enjoyable movie. Much, much better than the bloated mess that Thor: Love & Thunder was. I give this movie a solid 7

This was fun and nowhere near as bad as the reviews made it out to be, but still mid-tier MCU. Miles better than Eternals and the piece of hot garbage that Love & Thunder was.

CGI looked amazing at some shots and plain ugly at others. The Volume's use here stuck out like a sore thumb.

Hope and Hank were wasted. Newton's acting was rough to sit through and her range constituted a single facial expression.

M.O.D.O.K was cool whenever his mask was on, but man did they drop the ball on the unmasked face. It looked hilarious, but in a really bad way.

The saving grace of this film were Jonathan Majors and Michelle Pfeiffer. Majors killed it as Kang and carried the whole film. I can't wait to see more or him.

And finally 2 very important after-credit scenes that set up the future quite nicely.

6.5/10

Wow, that was a visual feast! Who ever says the CGI was bad, is reaching for a Grace Randolph level hot take. Overall, not the best MCU film but I think it might be the best Ant-Man film or at least level with the first one. Jonathan Majors as Kang... Best casting ever. Soooo menacing. 8+ or 8½ /10 for me. Those post-credits scenes...

I freaking loved this movie!!! I went in with lowered expectations as a result of reading reviews and was really glad at how much I enjoyed it and how unapologetically weird it was. By far my favorite Ant-Man movie and imo one of Marvel best since Endgame. Kang was amazing and so brutal I’m excited to see him take on the rest of The Avengers… Well all of the Avengers except for MODOK.

Not a great score. I don’t see this having strong legs 4BD928A7-9EAD-4A3F-9C4A-BFBF51C4D92F.jpeg

Just saw it for a second time since I bought the 2nd one with free ticket at release...still gotta stick with my 5.5 score and technically that is more than what it should be based on my grade average. Though I only really care about the story and characters having some development. Movie didn't have much music or memorable score, CGI was CGI besides the bad MODOK I don't get mesmerized by CGI.
Act/part 1
I am considering this the first 50 minutes of the movie. Nothing happens and it is all very very basic with the plot and reason. Scott gets ripped by Cassie for not still fighting a cause, though the guys deserves a bit of a break like the other Avengers. He isn't a Friendly Neighborhood Ant-Man he is still helping people and make a difference too. I am fine with the Cassie backstory and her wanting to save people but then they should have had them go to the Quantum realm in a different way. Don't have them just get sucked in how about the rebels are sending a message and Cassie goes to try and save people. Scott only goes down after finding out Cassie went and he wants to save/protect her. Think that would have helped her have some character development. Anyways once they were sucked into the Quantum and split up w got a lot of talk about nothing. They never say Kang's name like he is Voldermort which was annoying the previews already tell us its Kang so its not some mystery character. The Quantum people were pointless they actually never say the leaders name until the Mind Reader near the end of the fight but he calls her something else because later on Cassie calls her something. Why introduce these people and not actually have them introduce themselves? I think beam head is Solomon because the leader said it like once, don't know mind reader or ooze guy. They say Kang forced them out of their place, but why should we care they didn't show any of this. I feel like this is was the issue with Gorr in Thor L&T he was a God Butcher who we only saw kill one God. Act 1 should have had Kang conquering the Quantum Realm, how did he do it?

The Pym Van Dynes we get nothing, Bill Murray wasn't necessary at all he gave nothing but a ship he was just there and basically to tell Hank he had sex with Janet...
Act 1 gets a 1 from me the act can be skipped and nothing is missed in the movie

Act/part 2
I am considering this the part once Kang gets his backstory to where Scott finishes that mission. I loved the stuff with Kang and Janet we needed more of this and to see how Kang created his control in the Quantum. How did he create all those soldiers and tech? How come no one fought back against him and does he have any actual followers among Quantum people. I would have preferred he had some Quantum people instead of lame Darren/MODOK. But Major's had a great presence in the flash back and scene with Langs. This act felt like a different movie and was intense when Kang was threatening them. The Quantum storm stuff was good the dialogue had a good tune since the jokes didn't fall flat when they did have a few in. Though I am not sure why Scott's disk aged out was he suppose to spam blast like he did with Hope? Still would say this Act is a 9 mainly due to Kang story getting told some

Act/part 3
I admit I don't like Star Wars and that space fighting stuff so this reminded me way too much of that with the fight. The MODOK/Cassie don't be a dick stuff was lame don't care for Darren to try and have redemption. Cassie just rallied all the people anyways, as someone that does not watch reviews or have social media. If I can see the studio clearly trying too hard to make a character send a message that they are a leader and reform then it is too obvious. Hank arriving with the ants was cool but didn't like Kang getting beaten up by the ants and the MODOK death was too long. Didn't care for beamhead dying either. In the end Kang was defeated by Hank Pym & Hope since Scott did no real damage and got his ass whooped. They didn't establish Kang The Conqueror as a major future threat like they should. This Kang especially the way he interacted in the Janet flashback is the one I prefer seeing, the other ones they showed looked too goofy and forced voice work. I would have been fine if they killed Scott and let Cassie take over if they did it right but they really didn't. They established that Cassie didn't even know the basic combat ways until she figured it out against MODOK. The ending I think could have pushed momentum for the Avenger movie if when Scott was thinking if he messed up, we see some slight change such as a Kang statue somewhere. It would have been similar to Loki in that He Who Remains died yet the timeline messed up still.
Gave Act 3 a 3.5

Was nowhere near as bad as the reviews suggested.

Was a fun film which was elevated by an amazing performance from Jonathan Majors. Kang was superb and it really set up the future stories too.

Not a top tier MCU film but certainly not worthy of such a low RT score,

7/10

5 for me. I didn't love it. Kang was definitely a high point, I got a few laughs from MODOK, but the rest was very meh.

This was fine. No way does it deserve its rotten score, as this was much better than Love and Thunder which is MCU’s worst movie. While there were jokes, the moments got to land. I bought into the relationships.

And I like everyone had something to do. I wasn’t expecting Michelle Pfeiffer to be such a heavy but she was great.

The only things that didn’t work for me were the rebels which felt undercooked. And Modok being Darren Cross was joked about one too many times. His reversal to the good side was too sudden and abrupt.

So I just saw this yesterday and had to take some time to get my thoughts together. I'm someone who usually more or less agrees with the consensus of movie reviews. Even if I enjoy a movie that is universally panned, I get why people don't like it. This is probably the first movie in a long time that I legit don't get the hate for. It is by no means is a perfect, amazing or even great movie, but overall I had fun and was generally entertained with it. and it is is defintely not a bottom tier movie. At the moment I think I'm hovering around 7.5

I'd give it a solid 7/10.

I enjoyed it WAY MORE than Love and Thunder and it moves the overall storyline along for the Multiverse-phase.

The main issue I had with the film was it needed some tightening up while also more multiverse exposition.

I didnt need MODOK/Darren to be "redeemed", it felt forced and a lot of it should've been cut.

I also didn't understand why in the final fight between Kang & Antman....he didnt use ANY of his gadgets that would've helped him just the tiniest bit fighting Kang 1:1

The CGI overall...was it top tier? No. But it was bearable for me though they should've found more of a way to keep half of the film looking as natural as possible.

I've noticed that when Marvel first started it was trying to go for a more grounded feel and while there was always CGI, it felt very realistic for the most part. Jump to the Marvel of today and we are doing movies that are primarily CGI and the trend of "cute alien" that we can market for merch has become an annoying staple.

That was very realistic imo. The part that didnt make sense and should've been re-done..
The ending. They had Scott play down the entire thing with what Kang told him. It should've ended with Scott at a meeting with some Avengers and telling them everything that happened so they can at least look more into it and be prepared.

Also the lack of Maggie at the dinner was a lil annoying.

Lack of Maggie and his freinds overall took out the little bit of normalcy that the film needed.

I do wish Maggie was there at the end at least to tie things back to the original. I wasn't a big fan of Luis and his buddies, but some people are probably upset he didn't come back. We aren't going to see Dave again.

I truthfully don't get the hate either. I mean Ant-Man and The Wasp and Ant-Man were hardly great movies either. I think the only thing though that people probably liked about Ant-Man and the Wasp is that it had a scaled-down story and smaller stakes compared to say Infinity War which came out the same year or this film.

Here's my problem with Ant-Man and the Wasp. The Bill Foster and Ghost subplots are almost an afterthought. I get that Bill probably wants to help Ava, but why would Bill endanger his friend and former colleague being reunited with his long-lost wife to do that? Bill Foster didn't even really do anything in the movie, and Ghost didn't do much either for that matter. Hank had nothing to do with the experiment that caused Ava's condition. That was her father's doing.

Also, Hank and Hope are being jerks to Scott for no reason. Hank was the one who recruited Scott to carry on his legacy. To me it just kind of sours me about Hank and Hope as characters, especially this version of Hank. Scott didn't get arrested and sent to the raft because he was being a dick. Captain America asked him for help and he thought he was doing the right thing.

Saw it last night. Honestly I liked it plenty. 8/10. Going into it the reviews didn't have me convinced. "As bad as Eternals they say..." well I liked Eternals. I like the weird stuff. Bring on the weird!

I would agree with many of the flaws people are expressing though.
- no Luis is the cardinal sin. Because of that, this barely counts as an Ant-Man sequel. This is a Kang intro movie set in the Quantum Realm and co-starring the Ant-Fam.
- no masks in the Quantum Realm is idiotic. This is the Disney/Hollywood I cannot stand. But if the studio forces you to do something that doesn't make sense, get creative on it. Quantum bubbles where oxygen is found at a subatomic level. Idk. Anything would've been better than going back on a 3 movie-deep canon (Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Endgame) where masks are required in the Quantum Realm.
- Kang was defeated too easily. But I do like that we have now seen him die twice and it does beg the question, how do we beat him? So this is a pro and a con. I think it could've been done worse. But also could a been done better. Ant-Man and Wasp should not be powerful enough to take down Kang. Sorry.
- Bill Murray was one of the lamest additions to the MCU at least it wasn't like Bale where he was the main antagonist. Murray just deserves better than throwaway quantum old dude doesn't he?

That all being said it was a total head trip! I loved the visuals. I loved the concepts. Jonathan Majors is phenomenal. This was significantly better than Love and Thunder.

Enjoyed this more than I did Love and Thunder by a good way so very confused how one is rotten and the other fresh. Majors was awesome as Kang and when it came to getting down to business he didn't disappoint.
I just hope this isn't the last we have seen of this version of Kang
. I liked that it got a bit more serious with even Scott getting totally serious at the end and putting his life on the line for something important.

No Luis was a black mark against the movie and some CGI was indeed poor. Though some was great. MODOK probably sounded good on paper but the execution was very mixed. I liked the Pym's getting more to do also. And Scott's relationship with Cassie continues to be a strong point for this franchise. I like that they raised their ambitions for what an Ant-Man movie could be and even played into that with Kang.

6.5/10.

I enjoyed both Eternals and Love & Thunder more than Quantumania. Quantumania just doesn't feel very inspired imo. Its dull in compariXon.

I thought it was... fine? Mostly set-up for something that isn't grabbing me completely at this point, even if Majors was very good.

Pfeiffer and Douglas kept the movie alive for me.

Just managed to see it. It’s rather solid entertaining film. It is a standalone story and a natural progression to what came before it. The main complaint of it being a set up falls flat to me — it could have been just another unrelated main antagonist and the story would be more or less similar but since it wasn’t and people cannot dis-know what is already known the perspective will be skewed toward what is known so the overall perception tends to fall into that narrative.

A couple of negatives for me — the use of Volume tech can be better, and even I follow the MCU, the overall time warp multiverse concept is rather convoluted in this movie.

All in all, the best of the trilogy. 8/10

I...largely enjoyed this? Is this really worse than stuff like Ant-Man 2, Iron Man 2, Thor 2? Pfeiffer and Majors were terrific in this and I loved watching their story together. It was this weird combination of Kirby + Rick and Morty + Star Wars and it was really fun, MODOK ruled and I appreciated how many different creatures lived in the Quantum Realm. I think we are at a point where both critics and general audience are definately burnt out by the MCU so we're all less forgiving of its productions. Solid 7.5 for me.

I have so many problems with this film that I don't know where to start. Most of them have already been mentioned a lot.

But the main one for me is that they completely abandoned any attempt of real science that the first film established. They don't even need the helmets anymore? What about the freaking air?

Not to mention that is completely ridiculous to make a film about size-shifting heroes when sizes in this movie don't matter at all. The joy of Ant-Man is watching him in comparison with other known objects in the real world. How am I supposed to understand size in the Quantum Realm? There's a shot when Cassie and Scott are "big" and they hug each other and there's absolutely no indication that they're giant, they just look like normal people side by side.

On the plus side, Kang is fine (well... he was), a couple of secondary characters are fun (but they don't have much screentime), Michelle Pfeiffer is an absolute Goddess and the only redeeming quality for me is the return of the army of ants that was completely sidelined and forgotten since the first film.

Interesting concepts here and there but this was the wrong movie for Ant-Man.

Take a drink every time they open/close their helmets... you'll die.
