Ray Fisher is CYBORG!

Yeah, you do. But it's not THAT hard if you've studied a lot of other film actors. Kevin Spacey goes back and forth between the two all the time.

Kevin Spacey has been artistic director of the Old Vic Theatre for the last ten years. Kenneth Branagh is rumoured to be taking over from him in 2015.

Dudes come off the theatre straight into Hollywood all the time. Fanboys actually prefer it.

Yes, but like any medium transition, it can be hit or miss. For example, Nathan Lane is a great stage actor, but he's only had two or three films that weren't utter crap. Same thing with Alan Cumming. They both have very loud and flamboyant acting styles, so they're mostly cast in terrible cartoons and kids movies.

This article explains it pretty well: http://voices.yahoo.com/theater-acting-compared-film-acting-4069745.html

I still feel that this is still a MOS sequel about Superman and Batman and we'll get most of the movie through Superman's POV. I think he'll mainly be dealing with Batman and Lex and we're only going to get small cameo's from these other heroes. Cyborg can easily be weaved into the story with Star labs and especially if Metallo is in this. Wonder Woman seems to be the only one to have any other significant role which I can only assume will happen later in the film. Any other hero will only be a small cameo.

superman/batman public enemies had lex luthor, metallo, captain atom, major force, bane, toyman and power girl.
superman/batman absolute power had wonder woman, uncle sam and the freedom fighters,
those two stories still count as superman/batman stories even though there are a lot more characters than superman and batman.

Remember that football footage that was being filmed. Anyone think victor stone is one of those players?

Maybe not a player, but someone in the stands or an onlooker from elsewhere.

What's with his tooth gap?

In some pics he has it, but in theater photos it's gone.

This is the first superhero of color announced for either of the DC or Marvel universes.

Who would have thought that Cyborg of all heroes would be the first to make it to screen among John Stewart, Black Panther and Luke Cage.

What about Blade, War Machine, Falcon, Storm, and Bishop? Heck I'm sure I'm missing others, that's just off the top of my head.

Here's a "making-of" featurette on the play Fisher was in. He shows up at around 1:15.

There's another video that shows more of his performance over here.

Looks the goods, just needs to fill in the gap.

Uggh IMO having Batman, Wonder woman And Cyborg in a MOS sequel is equivalent to having Captain America, Thor and Black widow in like IM2. A lot of people criticized IM2 for just being an Avengers prequel but I think this will be even more so. I really doubt they would have announced this guy so far ahead if it was just a 10 second cameo. His role will probably be small but not just a cameo. I wonder if they are shooting the Justice League movie and this back to back.

WB didn't announce this. Variety did.

Truth be told, I think Wonder Woman is like the only character that wasn't hinted, in any way, from MOS out of the confirmed characters that we have so far for this film.

We saw Star Labs, albeit in a brief shot, during the battle between Zod and Superman in Metropolis....which of course, connects with Cyborg.

We saw a Lexcorp building and a few trucks from it as well.

And we also saw a Wayne Enterprise Satellite.

Heck, even Aquaman was alluded to, somewhat (I think), and he's not even confirmed to be in this film...yet.lol For those who don't know what I'm talking about, I believe the oil rigs that were on fire at the start of MOS were actually oil rigs produced by a company that Aquaman is known to have had issues with in the comics.

Also, in the novelization, it said that the whales that came to Clark were actually, in a way, trying to guide him back to land.

Wow, nice find.

That's...interesting. When did he say that?

love this design. pretty cool actually.

Booo yah!!!!

All I know is I really don't want any time of this already crowded movie spent telling the origin story of cyborg. I heard a theory he would be a football player who gets into some accident and gets rebuilt as cyborg. The GA would just be asking why they made robocop black for the justice league movie if it was thrown in that sloppily.

I'm pretty sure the Variety article stipulates Fisher's role to be a very minor role (i.e. simple cameo).

And the movie is far from being crowded. Cap 2 has Cap, BW, Falcon, WS, Redford, Agent 13, Maria Hill, Fury, Pre-Crossbones and [BLACKOUT]friggin' Zola as an AI[/BLACKOUT]... Yet the movie isn't crowded at all.

Angel had a minor role in x3 but they spent time showing his powers manifest as a child in the opening. This movie is giving me major x3 vibes btw.

Agreed. Every movie has a ton of characters, but here's a comparison between the new characters and the ones who aren't returning from MOS:

Zod = Lex
Faora = Callan Mulvey's character
Hamilton = Alfred
Hardy = Holly Hunter's character
Carrie Farris = Tao Okamato's character
Jonathan Kent = WW
Jax Ur = Vic Stone
Jor El = Batman
Lara = ...Dick Grayson?
Swanwick =....Waller?
Non = ...Aquaman?
Drunk trucker guy =....Hal Jordan?
Priest = Barry Allen?

I am so tempted to bookmark this topic. One way or another, there is going to be a lot of crow-feasting two years from now.

I'm a little concerned though...theater acting is very different from film acting. In theater, you have to project a lot, which can come across as awkwardly OTT if you do it on film.

Still, he did pass three weeks of screen testing, so I guess I'm open to it. I would like to see if he can do more quiet acting, though.

You have to project for sound purposes. That doesn't mean you overact.

Really good actors learn to present emotions and characters in a balanced and nuanced manner in theatre. If you're good at it, there's no reason it shouldn't translate well to film.

Along with JL:War, this is the best design of Cyborg I've seen. I hope they mostly keep his face in tact though and just have him with a cybernetic eye/eyepiece instead of having half his face be robotic. Honestly, I really liked the redesigned RoboCop in this year's movie and I think something similar to that would be awesome.
