Superman Returns Re: The Offical Jason Appreciation Thread

Why would his hands be in the air? If the paino drifted, Jason would have tilted, unless he was floating, and his hands were his stance on floating, like when teenage Clark fell through the barn and was hovering above the ground.

his dna was still there bug

actaully if you rewatch superman 2, when clark goes into the molecular machine to take away his powers. The machine changes his DNA into a human DNA, it doesn't just take away his powers [thats impossble to do under a yellow sun] it changes his DNA so hes human, and has no more powers. so Jason should be a completely human child, and him haveing powers at all is a major plothole.

The movie doesn't follow Supes2. The only reference is Lex being in the FOS b4, and Lois and Supes having sex. But he didn't give up his powers.

ooooooooo...k...so he still keep the kriptonian heritage, but maybe...just maybe half the powers...?? i hope not...

and the witts of Lois Lane, who doesn't know how to spell correctly...she still asks everyone how words are supposed to be spelled or written...geez...the Pulitzer prize winner of the DP, wouldn't stand a chance against some of the kids at a spelling bee contest...

Yeah, people seem to forget that just because he loses his powers, it doesn't mean his dna is erased. He's still Kryptonian.

And, maybe that was something Jor-El took into consideration. That even though the powers could leave, the dna would still stay strong.

He could be something like Blade. Maybe having all of his father's powers, but none of his weaknesses? The jury seems to be out on wheter or not the Kryptonite affected Jason or not, still.

wouldn't kryptonian DNA just destroy and replace the crappier human DNA? I mean if a race is so advanced, with an infinitely more complex and powerful genetic structure. That DNA would eat any DNA it tried to combine with, and spit out all the left over human junk. Ie. Superman's super sperm should be so strong and the DNA in it so dominant, that most human traits would be overiden by superior kryptonian genetic commands.

I say the kid is 3/4 kryptonian.

Well, I've heard that Kryptonian DNA had been altered, kinda like gene manipulation. Supposedly, to make them a more perfected race. So, yeah one can argue that the dominant genes could take over the recessive genes, if the dna is meant to do so.

But,.....he's still part human for both being born on Earth and having a human mother.

But, yeah....as long as he's got the powers he's pretty much Kryptonian.

My theory is that this is a bit similar to Zeus and hercules. Zeus, you know, does his thing with an earth woman and has a son who's half god and can't fly and do all that greek god stuff, but does possess super strength to fight hydras and such. It may be that jason won't have all of superman's super powers, just his strength which we see, and possibly speed and invulnerability. He might end up like the early fleischer superman who didn't fly but leaped tall buildings, wasn't insanely powerful enough to turn back time and move continents, could be susceptable to sneezing powder or whatever, basically be a weaker version of pre crisis supes. More post crisis, but not even that powerful. That's what I'm guessing they're going for...

but maybe not, maybe he'll be as strong as dad like lois says.

Well, we might never find out. I don't see Jason getting much focus on, or his own movie ever.

Oh I think he will. I think we have to realize how huge it is now that superman's passed on his seed to lois and created a new hybrid human/kryptonian thing. is it possible to go the route of rocky balboa and have his son never step in the ring, totally, but this is a son with powers. He'll soon meet his own lois and make his own super kids. And then they'll have superkids. And then... lots of super kids...

this is big.

would you say that jason is the worlds..............................................................MIGHTIEST MORTAL?

You guys are reaching with the DNA thing. Just goes to show that the Superman II plot point was weak as well.

Lord you gave them eyes but they can not see.....He wasn't neccessarily conceived in S:II...think outside the box.

I understand that. But does anyone else? No.. Which means Singer has a mucked up movie, with weird perceptions of the story. See what I mean? Besides, Superman II having the stupid "losing powers machine" is a ******ed plot point. It was idiotic.

The general audience who might not of seen S:II or remember the FOS scene would be smart enough to figure out at some point that Superman and Lois got together and conceived Jason...try again.

i find it hard to beleive superman would just have sex with Lois, and not reveal to her who he really was. Superman felt being with Lois would be dangerous , but yet has no problem with sleeping with her anytime he chooses. Thats not love, that just basically what Zeus did to human women in greek mythology.

THe kid thing is the only problem i think most poeple had with superman Returns. I Felt Singer had no idea what he was doing, because first the kids weak then hes strong. Then the kid is killing people with Pianos, and then he is spotting people in oceans. I was half expecting Jason to wink at the camera in the final shot.

I don't think its an important issue to Supes Returns, but there could be ways to explain Jason's powers. Since Lois was in the FOS when the machine was activated against Zod, Ursa, and baby Hewey, maybe its possible to speculate that the machine reacted little "embryo Jason's" powers.

Sorry, but I really dig the movie so I've gotta chime in with something to defend it

The times that I saw the film with the general audience (I'm talking NOT the night before with the big-time fans) everyone clapped and cheered when they found out the kid was Superman's. Even the night before showing had a lot of people cheering (probably the fans of the other movies though, and not the comics).

i loved the movie to, but is just little things that bother me. To many unanswered questions, and they[the movie characters] talk like we are suppose to all remember[or know] what they are refferring to.

You're giving them WAY too much credit.

i was thinkin of something..

Lex waves kryptonite near him and the jason reacts... and Lex notices. Now Lets say the kryptonite began a change in young Jason with his dad's dormant gene being triggered by the kryptonite OR the crystals in the room (he was drawn to them and Lois tells him not to touch). If the crystals detected the boys DNA structure and recognised it him as a descendant of Jor-El. It then could have triggered something in him and activated his dormant kryptonian genes..hence pushing the piano...what do yall think?..just a theory.
