Superman Returns Re: The Offical Jason Appreciation Thread

Oh, bearhulk, I didn't mean it as an insult, in case thats what you thought. It must be me, but the kid doesn't look like Marsden. He does look like Bosworth however.
yeah in the film it clearly states that the kid looks like his mom. Other than that the kid wears plaid and parts his hair on the same side as Clark.

Which could also be a red herring, though I havent seen Clark wear plaid before though.

I thought he only wore plaid in the first movie and in SV. Is Clark's hair brown, or a light black?

Light black. And the other incarnations arent as relevant, he never wore plaid in SR.

Is Lois' hair color supposed to be light black as well, or brown, or something else?

I don't know, I've seen both.

In the comics its changed between Black and Brown.

Kate looks the best with Brown so they went with brown.

what about when he jumps on the water tower in SV?

Jumps on the water tower? When does that happen?

Oh wait......Bender. Ya I was thinking about Routh. Thats right, Bender wears plaid in Smallville.

I forgot about him. I never saw Clark on L&C wear plaid when he was in Smallville. Wait, I think he did once. What's with it and wearing plaid when you go to Kansas, its not a requirement? Is it?

Its not. Routh doesnt wear it in SR. Thank god. It tends to looks stupid on grown men, Brandon maintained his dignity.

Well see how its handled, I still dont buy it.

That's cool...at least you are going to wait to see how it's handled. I agree it could be complete and utter crap, but we gotta wait to find out first:)

This may be petty but they could have also cast a different looking kid if it was really Superman's son.

Okay, now...he is not the most adorable looking kid, but think of it this way. Remember all the adorable little chuckle heads in the other movies, like that cute kid in The Santa Clause. Well....he grew up and wasn't cute any longer. So, if this is the kid that's going to be with us for the long haul maybe his potential will come later, which is a good thing:up:

The kid playing Jason looks like the exact spawn of Bosworth and Marsden. Looks nothing like Brandon.

What are you? A geneticist? :)

I wonder if the concept of Superman and Lois having a child would work better if the child was a girl

Now this is something that hasn't been mentioned before. I actually think if the kid was a girl people wouldn't be complaining so much...I wonder why that is? We did see Lara in the comics, so there is some precendent, but I think it has something to do with the notion of Superman acutally having a son who may one day...possibily...take over for Dad. I think that put the fear of God in some people:O

Whos to say this is the only child for Supes? Maybe he'll have more?

That might be pushing the boundary because that would mean Lois and Clark/Superman need to be in a committed relationship...like marriage. I think that's a bit too much, but you know for the last movie we could get that famous shot of the preggers test with the two blue lines and Supes getting the WTF look on his face..jk

Maybe in the 3rd movie, there is a wedding, and of course Supes fights his usual baddies, and then at the end, Lois tells Clark shes pregnant. Or the last scene could be Lois giving birth to a girl, or twins. Idk. I would like it if Clark had a big family, like 3 or 4 kids.

I wouldn't mind more because I've been lobbying for ONE for a long damn time:up:

A kid...period :) I got the wedding in the comics. I don't necessarily want to see that in the movie. I love corny, girly stuff like that for a Julia Roberts movie, but I got to draw the line here because this is a Superman movie. I got my wedding issue, and that's all I need. However, I would like them to get together and have it hinted at that they will get married. I don't necessarily want to see it though.

But Lois and Clark won't have more children until they are married, hopefully.

Sounds like a plan to me. I figure by the third movie they should be working on relationship stuff. Maybe he'll consider asking her to marry.

LOL...The interesting thing about all this is the question of rather Superman can have kids isn't really answered because of the hokey-mo that went down in SII. Is it conditional that he steps in the tube to lose his powers so he can impregnate Lois? We will never know...I'm sure. Though considering how easily he got his powers back last time maybe that will end up being the best form of birth control...idk:)

I remember reading the comic where Superman got married to Lois. I thought it was weird because she found out who he was by trying to cut his hair while he was sleeping and the scissers broke. What could give her the strength to cut the hair so hard that the scissors broke?

Maybe Jason can be cured by the red radiation. The only thing is, for movie purposes, it would make him human. Or, it could make him completely kryptonian. Maybe the children would be different, Clark and Lois first have a human son, who develops into a half kryptonian/half human, and then their next children are born half and half. Which version do you like better?

well how are they going to have kids if superman can't you know....?

I always wonder how his hair is cut. That's why the Kents are always poor, they need to buy scissors to cut his hair.

Ummm...A World Without Superman???? Is that the one where he retires and they have kid? Or is that the one where he is stripped of his powers by Gold K. I can't remember, and I don't think I've read either of those anyway.

Though I want to say that was E2 continuity...not sure to be honest. Though in regular post-crisis continuity that is NOT the way she found out Clark was Superman. He actually told her after he asked her to marry him.

He cuts his hair and shaves with heat vision. Supergirl I'm sure has to do the same thing.

As for what type of children and all that, I think it's just best to stick with the fact that he is half and half. The issue is rather or not a powered up Superman can impregnate Lois. They could have bumped uglies while he was powered up, according to the comics, so I don't know why he stepped in the tube in the first place. However, I'm going on my own armchair position that whatever the tube did it...uhhh...helped in the preggers process and that's all I'm going to say :)
