Superman Returns Re: The Offical Jason Appreciation Thread

Well, if you know anything about Dark Seid, you'd know that he is PURE EVIL and is a MASTER of trickery and deceit...he sets up these huge elaborate plots and plans. Planetary conspiracy and intricate war games, are HIS speciality!!! SO it could be possible...

Personally, I want the kid to be evil...so that Supes or someone can kill him, and eradicate him from all continuity! Then we can move on to WORLDS FINEST with Superman and Batman without an inkling of a thought, in regards to the KID. :-)

Finally someone who sees the light...or Darkness as it were.

Alright, here's your second warning (though it shouldn't be necessary considering this is a spoiler board): This topic contains spoilers if you haven't seen the movie.

Alright, Jason turns out to be Superman's son. This is clearly displayed when he throws the piano. However, building up to this scene, Richard and Lois have been emphasizing Jason's somewhat unhealthy state (he has breathing problems, he's not strong, he's not athletic, and he takes vitamins and medication).

How did he go from a weak little kid to suddenly revealing his superhuman inheritence? Was his breathing problems holding him back?

I've only seen the movie once so far, so I didn't really catch it.

the way the story played out Jason's superstrength was triggered by extreme stress-- such as seeing his mother hurt/ killed by the goon.

after that scene Lois and Jason was thrown into the pantry and locked from the outside. when Lois asked Jason if he can open the door he said "no".

Please, all that I would like to know is if it is made clear that
jason is Superman/Clark's?

Please, or at the least point me to a rewqview where it says.

Thank you.
Maybe the kid is Braniac.

I think he said "I'm sorry", then Lois went over to give him a huge hug and to tell him it was okay. Jason didn't even try to open door at that point. I wasn't sure if the "I'm sorry" was in reference to hurting (well he killed him) the henchman or that he didn't want to try the door. After they just sit there for awhile, the kid gets up to try the door but as he is about to try, Richard is on the other end and opens it.

I think Jason had probably never had any idea that he could do anything like toss a piano. But when he saw Lois in trouble, instinct kicked in. He probably said, "I'm sorry," cause he was freaked out. But after he calmed down, he's like, "Damn, maybe I can open this door. I just nailed that thug with the piano, so why not?"

My guess is that in the future Superman will show him how to use his powers when he wants to and how to control them.

Since we have NO IDEA how Clark/Lois' DNA is going to mix to make up Jasons we have no way of explaining how his powers work. My theory is that he pushed the piano out of instinct. Maybe he has to concentrate a little more to activate his powers.

It makes no sense but yeah he's Superman's son. He was changed to Human however in Superman 2 was Lois at the Fortress of Solitude when Superman tricked Lex switching the transformation chamber around? Ah who knows.

Who cares. It's an internet forum. Have a good trip.
That wasn't very polite. See, there may be some people here who speak to Venom regularly, and they may care. Don't be like that.

Yea Action ACE, don't be like that. Thank you for sticking up for me tron5000!!!

Actually, on second thought, I hope they continue to put the Flash off long enough for Goyer to disappear from the project.....

And then I will do the film personally.

Jason was like the kids in Jurassic Park.
There for a reason and made the movie better.

Ok, Clark was not human, he was a depowered kryptonian. He's also five, and a halfbreed. Not even Clark couyld control his powers at that age. I think he was in his teens when he mastered most of them. Didn't Jason open the door a little bit b4 Richard opened it?

Agree. Jason adds the facet of fatherhood to superman. And superman has long needed to take another step forward as a character (on TV/movies anyway.. haven't kept up with the comics).

Clark gained control of all of his powers by the age of 18 .

Yes Jason opened the door just a little before Richard appears .

I was never a huge fan of the idea of the kid or Supes being a father but wow he was absolutely adorable

JASON! JASON! JASON!
Loved the kid .He was so adorable I mean the look on his face after he pushed the piano - Aww.

What do you mean by the red S and black background? Am I missing something, or is my brain just fried...?

Welcome to the Hype!

Hopefully Supes will give the Earth another backwards spin and go back in time to SMII to strap one on before he and Lois got funky.

Yeah what was up with that, didn't Kal think to put on a condom before he did the hoodey hoo with Lois.

But just like I predicted the kid didn't really do anything in the movie other then just be there for the plot. He did one or two things, but that was it. Pretty much worthless imo.

Well, he's half-human and half-Kryptonian, his allergies and breathing problems might be part of his metabolism and having trouble adjusting. He appeared to be barely out of pre-school.

I know there's been some griping about the kid...but I thought he was adorable. I loved the whole idea of Superman passing Jor-El's wisdom down to his own son.
