Reboot: Three Monsters (story boarding/character designs)

Superman needs a new plot structure with this reboot-- more like a Star Wars film, with Jabbas, rancors, and Darth Vaders. Look at Star Trek-- the main villain may be the Romulan, Nero, but there is also a battle between Spock and Kirk and a battle (or at least chase scene) with two huge alien monsters.

The story I imagine would follow the structure of Beowulf and the three battles of man: man vs man (Grendel), man vs society (Grendel's mother), and man vs nature (the dragon).

The first battle would be against Kalibak (in the 1950s), my exposition explaining why the New Gods are provoking Superman is because he is guilty of time travel (fourth dimensional travel) and altering history (fifth dimensional travel)-- that's my idea, the exposition isn't as important as the battles.

As with Beowulf-- the villain is killed in the first battle and this leads to the second battle:

Darkseid

I imagine Darkseid's role as a villain as limited in time as Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs or the Emperor in Star Wars. Regardless of how the battle goes-- Superman returns.

And then the story moves to Superman's future; our time, and the battle of the dragon which breaths fire, lives in the earth, flies in the air, and is disposed of in water.

The battle against nature is the battle in which man is defeated-- Superman is killed in the climax.

My theory is Earth is a 'test lab' for kryptonians. Every now and then, a kryptonian is sent to earth, to fulfil a prophecy, or duty.

Ancient egypt, greek gods - all stemed from kryptonians on earth. Kal el was sent to earth to protect it from alien invasion.

I need to brush up on my history and then i would relate each time period and a 'god' worshipped in that era, to krypton.

This era, we have superman.

It could be that aliens invaded earth, but ruled by a kryptonian, they won the and defended earth - allowing the aliens to settle, breed etc - prehaps explaining diferent races we have today??

Would that work in a live action reboot Superman film series? I agree it will not work in one movie but maybe 3 films or beyond that. Although I'm confused about most you even talked about.

The CGI Beowulf film a few years back shows that this plot structure of three chapters can be done on film and the movie can stay action packed.

The sequels would be prequels (since he dies in the end of the first film).

I'm not that concerned about the origin, especially considering the talk about WB not having the rights to the Krypton origin anymore. My Superman would be sent back in time to change history and in violating the time continuum he would attract the attention of the New Gods.

The idea is crazy/fantastic and the art work is unique - it would definitly be a story i'd pay to read - for entertainment value.

It'd be a great graphic novel but not for a film. But yeah I'd pay to read it aswell, I love the artwork.

If worked out great on film I would pay to see it. It be great so would get my 12 dollars worth of it. I mean the general audience does not even know Superman's orgins or would care to see on film and thats who the movies cater to the general audience.

The first image of Superman is for conceptual purposes only.

It would take a long time to do even one issue alone-- I did the modeling, the pencil work, the ink, the lettering, the writing, the editing, and the color. Marvel and DC have a different person doing each of those things; they have programs for putting the panels together, they have programs for lettering, they have programs for the bubbles; etc.

Some interesting ideas, but there's really no need to over complicate Superman. The formula works, and has worked for over 70 years. A faithful translation is all that is needed, with emphasis on effects and elements that make for a great film. Movies and comics have different strengths, and one needs to use each to the advantage of the medium at hand.
That being said, I wouldn't mind a bit more sci-fi/fantasy with the next one.

I'm tired of the cliche super hero film plots, whether it is one villain who has the powers of the hero (Zod) or a group of villains teamed together (Brotherhood of Mutants)-- it's boring.

I'm proposing a different kind of battle in each chapter against a different character in each climax.

I like these ideas for the mere fact that they're not some take on the same dull origin story we've had. This also treats Superman the way he was meant to be--as a mythological character.

I want to exploit the mythology of the character as this alien from another world; to patronize the audience, to show the people of the 40s gossiping about his origin, and to reveal to the audience that they know as much as these characters; only a 2D perspective of a 3D object.
