I listend to the podcast, and it seems that whomever runs the site is stringing together old news reports. A lot of this info we already heard through the rumormill, a lot of it seems far-fetched.

Highlights:

*Singer to direct the sequel
*170 million dollar budget
*Start date: 2010
*Movie release: 2011 or 2012
*Maybe the end of Brandon Routh as Superman
*More action and seemingly abandoning the Jason White storyline
*No screenwriters attached.

I added the written report to my blog for your viewing pleasure and discussion but this report is very very fuzzy to me. A lot of holes in this story.

The end of Brandon as Superman?

- Does that mean he won't be in MOS?
- Or that MOS will be his last Superman film?

I think they mean that he won't be in MOS because of the time frame. I wouldn't put much stock into any of it.

wow. I thought most people would rather Singer leave and Brandon stay??

I personally think it sounds a little strange. Man of Steel fimling in 2010, and being released in 2011 or 2012..that is 6 years after the release of the original. Something doesn't sound right to me.

sounds alot like what they did to the hulk, save for singer coming back.
I smell a reboot.

Thanks Showtime.

I hope its not true. I'd rather have Brandon back instead of Singer.

Yeah i doubt that myself, by 2012 WB may be thinking reboot instead of MOS.

Relax, this is just speculation, nothing more. When we learn the Truth, it won't be by an unknown source like that. But pray that MOS happens sooner rather than later, and with Brandon, of course.:yay: :cwink:

I think Singer is far more likely to go than Routh. He did a nice job with what he was given and any sequel to SR for sure will have Routh back as Superman. Just doesn't make sense to do it any other way.

Yes. But if they did a reboot, IMO, it won't happen soon, that'd be ridiculous, especially since SR was not received poorly by any standard, no matter what fanboys say. Any way, I won't support a reboot that early. NO.

The way it sounded to me was after she finished reading the report they started throwing in opinions and that is where the "Brandon Routh not being around due to strike taking too long yada yada" came from.

It seems like they don't know that he would always keep open to doing another Superman film due to his love for the character.

I think WB has to look at it and think "what has a better shot at making more money, MOS or a reboot at some point"??

The problem i have with some of the views the fans have about SR is the feeling that the almost 400 mil WW it made was somehow lousy. I get that it did not perform as expected because of it's budget but that is a lot of money to just throw away and assume a reboot will easily surpass it. Plus sequels are making more money now than the originals far more often than they used to. Who is to say that MOS done properly could not make 20 or 30 mil more domestic than SR did and why would WB assume that a reboot would blow those numbers out of the water?? It is easy to say "you want to make Spiderman type money", far more difficult to pull it off.

If its true that JLA is totally dead maybe they went back to Singer and agreement was made that after strike is over they would work on MOS.

I dont know how valid this website is personally, I think they have just compiled a lot of different information from different reports and spliced them together and mixed it in with some of their own speculation.

Although I think JLA will ultimately be categorized as canceled, this website is reporting that Singer opted out and then was asked or came back? Something is way off.

Yeah. It was clear to me that the general public was Not that excited about watching another Supes movie, I know I wasn't, and I was part of the mainstream. IMO, Superman needs to earn his place all over again, and he can, of course. Make the sequel more action packed, faster, add superfights, and done. I am sure it will make more cash. After all, that's what most people in the general audience want to see, and that's the people WB cares the most. But please keep the heart of the story as in SR. :yay:

2011...2012 release???? I hate waiting

Me too. If only we have the DeLorean, we would be there by now. ;)

It's not a matter of getting rid of Brandon Routh. They were just saying that all the actors contracts would be over which I suppose if Singer is signed on would mean possibility of recast across the board. Again, if he wants Brandon to do the movie I'm sure he will work out the schedule cause he is himself a fan of the character so much. It's rare to see an actor that knows THAT much about a character they are playing before even being given the role :o

I think Brandon will be Superman for MOS. However I think that MOS will be more of a reboot much like Hulk is then a sequel to Superman Returns.

IF there is a continution of the story from Superman Returns with Bryan Singer attached, all signs would point to Brandon Routh being back as Superman. If WB has decided to go forward with a reboot or reorigin, then Brandon Routh will not be Superman.
