I would post this in the tech. support forum but no one ever goes there although some mod is gonna move it there anyways but here's the deal. This pass saturday my mom and I just moved like 2 miles away from my previous location so our service provider(bellsouth) told us to wait 3 work days until we can get our dsl hooked backed up at our new location. So after 5 days we called them and they told us that we can't get dsl because we are too far out. Now what pisses me off is that people that live over 8 miles away from town can get dsl with no problem. Now I am stuck with this ****ty dial-up looking for a way out of it. So is there anything I can do to regain fast access internet with or without dsl?

I posted this response 20 minutes ago and you are just now reading it...

There are some things like Clearwire or Xanadoo...look into those.

isn't cable modem the thing that hooks to your tv or something like that? the reason i ask is because we now have satellite.

Then get satellite internet access/
Well, a cable modem allows for a digital signal to be read and send via PC.
