I liked the movie on some level, but I don't think that it was fantastic or even good. If you watch it again most of it is extremely bland and most of the dialog is awful with the exception of those recycled lines from one of the old Apes movies. The cops are major cowards and are really pathetic, they lost and didn't even bother to go after the apes again and many of the apes came off as tools for the most part who did stuff just because Caesar wanted stuff to be done. I was expecting more from the movie and despite the great acting from key characters, I thought that it was pretty crappy, the movie is so thinly fresh and that isn't saying much if you evaluate it objectively. I really thought that the movie would have been better if the main characters weren't so bland, if some of the special effects didn't look funny, if the dialog was better, and if the non-main apes were more smarter. Oh and if the apes did more with the humans. I'm sorry but the acting, main plots, and some of the solid special effects isn't enough to cover up it's flaws. I never once felt that any of the apes were really smart after they were exposed to that stuff. So in conclusion, I will have to say that the movie is below mediocrity and is un-engaging overall and is a blight when it comes to movies that receive the cinematic treatment.
Oh, and the movie loses another point because I thought too many of the humans were idiots when it came to squaring off against the apes. One thing that I hate about the movie is that the apes don't look like they got shot after they got shot, all I saw on them was blood and zero punctured flesh. The movie got really shoddy thanks to the really serious sounding music imo, negative one again.
