Hey Hypsters. Hopefully you guys can help me with some audio books. I am heading on a mini road trip 4-8 hours one way, and was hoping you guys can suggest some good audio books.

I read and listened to World War Z and found the book much more enjoyable for a few reasons. One just felt better to read, two it was abridged and three there were little reference notes that were not in the audio version at all.

I liked Prey by Michael Crichton as it was interesting and not abridged. Books I personally have read and enjoyed.

Forrest Gump, Vampire Chronicles, White Fang, The First Harry Potter but couldn't read the second, The Hobbit I loved, Fellowship I lost interest with 50 pages left.

I am interested in just about every genre. As long as it is full and complete, nothing abridged please.

Thanks for the help.

The John Dies at the End audiobook would be good for a roadtrip. It's consistently funny and fast paced. I'm an audiobook addict, but I do like somewhat lighter fare on a roadtrip, a situation where my ass hurts, my legs ache like crazy, and I just want to get out of the damn car. Comedy always makes the time go faster and John Dies at the End is a damn funny book.

i enjoyed the Stephen King Graveyard Shift short stories on audio. we listened to them when we went camping. also the neil gaiman neverwhere is pretty good too

Kinda late to the party, but audio books are always enjoyable if even on the daily commute to work. Here are a few to consider.

The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine by Michael Lewis
If you want to understand the 2008 financial meltdown this is a MUST read.

Impact by Douglass Preston
Deep Storm by Lincoln Child
Terminal Freeze by Lincoln Child
Orbit by John J. Nance

If you want ensemble cast stuff check out http://www.graphicaudio.net. The have a number of DC comics that are quite well done.

Special Interest non-fiction type stuff:
Occult America: The Secret History of How Mysticism Shaped Our Nation by Mitch Horowitz
This one is kinda dense and if you aren't interested in the subject you may not enjoy it.

Blood in the Cage by L. Jon Wertheim
Again, a niche book. More of less the story of Pat Miletich and the early days of MMA.

I recently checked out Area 51, it was okay/good but at parts the author leads you in one direction then takes a hard left, at times leaving me feeling like...aw I thought we were going to get ice cream, nope we're going to the dentist.

Overall it was interesting but I have yet to finish it.

I forgot to include The Dresden Files. So far there are 13 of them with the first 12 being read by James Marsters and the most recent one by John Glover. Fast paced urban fantasy where what seems insignificant in an early book may be a major plot point later on down the road.

Batman, Knightfall from BBC Audio is pretty awesome.

In this thrilling radio drama, Batman has been crippled by his fiercest foe ever: Bane, a villain of superhuman strength, cunning and evil. '...Dirk Maggs, who wrote and produced, threw everything into the pot and stirred vigorously. The result was richly textured, highly flavoursome, original and wonderfully energetic ...' "Daily Telegraph." Gotham City is reeling from the shocking news that Batman is confined to a wheelchair. Who will now protect the innocent from the dangerous inmates of Arkham Asylum, whom Bane has released? A new hero - Azrael - takes up the mantle of the Bat. But Azrael is a more brutal Batman than Bruce Wayne, and far more eager to punish the guilty than to protect the innocent. Will he destroy Gotham City in order to save it? On CD for the first time, this fantastic full-cast adventure stars Bob Sessions, Michael Gough, Peter Marinker and Kerry Shale, and it comes from the renowned producer Dirk Maggs, of "Superman" and The Hitchhiker's "Guide to the Galaxy" radio fame. This stunning audio production was first aired on BBC Radio 1, and its cliffhanging,all-action adventure can now be heard uninterrupted and remastered - complete with dazzling sound effects and specially composed orchestral music. This CD edition also includes a bonus out-takes reel, never heard before.
