12 Movie Sequels That Must Never Get Made

So let me get this straight: from the posts im reading, Metropolis NEEDS a remake only because it's 80 years old? Lame. That doesn't justify anything. Besides, what would it do now, anyway? It's the basis for every sci-fi movie ever made after it. The effects would be nice, but who cares? The film still holds up. I love it to death

To quote the article: "Why not tap into the zeitgeist by remaking this stylish, silent, futuristic thriller about socioeconomic-class chasms?"

If that's so relevant today, make your own damn movie with those themes.

A sequel to 'The Thing' is not a terrible idea IMO

I prefer the prequel idea dealing with the norwegian attack. Ditto with the Alien prequel 'cause i'm tired of seeing Ripley :whatever:

Not necessarely. There are others who do feel that the movie is dated and can be updated with modern effects.
Its the samw with flicks like Logan's Run. I saw Logan's Run and IMO it sucked. I was constantly distraced by the dated special effects. Not to mention that the story was just meh.

On the other hand there are movies like 2001: A Space Oddesy that have sequences that still hold up today.
I haven't Metropolis to this day but i can understand if some people feel that the movie can be remade for this day and age because of dated visuals ( in their eyes at least).

I love Logan's Run for it's novelty. You can't do movies like that anymore and that's why I like it. But I wouldn't be against a remake of that

99.9% of sequels suck. I Am Legend sequel? That truly is the bottom of the barrell.

I hope they never make a sequel to The Warriors, although I heard that they were making a "remake" that word is like a curse word.

Godfather Part II is more of a continuation of a story, like Empire Strikes Back and The Two Towers.

Ok, sweet. Glad you like ESB and TT. And I do see your point about Godfather Part II.

And speaking of which, is there only one Godfather book by Puzu that was adapted into the films? I know the first is from the book but what about part II?

I understand that, but i don't think it's a valid reason to go remake a film. If the themes in Metropolis are so relevant today, then to me, the film holds up. There's a reason why it's a great movie. If someone wants to see a different movie with those same themes, make an original film. Don't remake it because the effects don't hold up.

And besides, a remake of Metropolis wouldn't do anything for me. What would it really achieve? It's the inspiration for every sci-fi films ever made. If the genre needs a jump start, come up with something new. Don't rehash what we already have.

Damn, I have to agree with this. But it would still be interesting to see a really great remake, no?

it WOULD be interesting to SEE. But nothing else. If someone remade it, it would probably LOOK amazing. But with the exception of Cronenberg's "The Fly" and POSSIBLY the upcoming "Wolfman", every remake that i've seen has usually sucked.

It would look interesting, but i've no interest in seeing it.

Only half of Godfather 2 is from the novel, specifically the half that shows Vito Corleone's childhood and his rise to power.

The other half was written by Puzo and Coppola.

Bookwise, there was a "sequel" of sorts written by Puzo, called "The Sicilian". It was set when Michael was hiding out in Sicily.

Here's a funny one: JFK 2 :woot: Just Kidding.

Armageddon 2, partially bc there would be nothing to do and bc the first one is the most melodramatic movie ever made.

I really hope they don't make Jurassic Park 4....not even with Spielberg. Especially after Indy 4.
