First, sorry if this is in the wrong section or something, I'm new here! If the mods think it belongs in another area, they can go ahead and move it.
Anyway, I was looking over the guests for a comic convention I'll be attending in a few months, to see what comics they've worked on, and thus what I have in my collection that I can get signed by them when the convention rolls around. One of the guests is Rob Granito. However, unlike with the other comic book guests, I can't find any account/ record/ bibliography of Granito's works. Even comicbookdb, which I've found is normally an excellent resource in that regard, has nothing on Granito's work.
If anybody here is familiar with his work, could you please post a brief list of some of what he's done (Preferably his work from within the last 4 years, as pretty much all of the comics in my collection are from within that period)?
Thanks a bunch!

Hey. I actually worked with Rob years back and did a lot of appearances with him. I honestly don't know if/what comic work he's done recently, but I know he does quite a bit of fine art & prints, etc. these days, however, he did stuff for DC's Johnny DC line. TEEN TITANS GO! comes to mind. Hope that helps somewhat.

In Answer to your question about Rob Granito he is the greatest fraud the world has ever known. He has never worked a day in his life for any comic company DC Marvel or otherwise he Traces every thing that it is he does and his whole reputation in the comic field is non existent since he has never worked in said field, just look at his web site. I can tell where he traced each and every one of his so called art works from including the wonder woman head shot that he traced from the late great Artist Dave Stevens. So this is why there is no actual account of work he has done for any comic company because he hasn't he is nothing more than the Milli vanilli of the comic industry simply put he is a fraud Hope this helps and lets spread the word http://granito.tinaproductions.com/index.php
shouldn't someone report this guy to the proper channels over at DC and Marvel for his blatant use and thievery of there respected characters

Hope this Helps
Jeff

I'm guessing that isn't THE Jeff Smith?

No I am not the Jeff smith of Bone fame nor do I claim to be I am Jeff Smith the Heating and air Conditioner serviceman and comic fan who happens to share the same moniker. I have done some research about this Granito Guy after purchasing a print of his on ebay and realizing that it was nothing more than a poorly copied rendition of a Todd Mcfarlane Batman spiderman montage. and after investiigating this guys claims he has not worked day one for any of the companys he has claimed to have for the exception of padwolfe publishing which he did a few covers for there murphy's lore books, one of which was nothing more than a blatant ripoff of the hildebrandt brothers marvel master piece cards werewolf by night. Do not believe me look it up

You don't find any actual comics attributed to him because as far as anyone can tell, he's a fraud and a hack. He's taken several photos of me from various magazines, including one of my copyrighted character, VooDoo Baby, and has poorly painted over them barely changing them from the original and then passing it off as his originals. I just had this pointed out to be today. Apparently he claims to have designed the Batman postage stamp and ghosted for George Perez.

Besides for everyone from DC to Disney being able to sue his ass, he's pissed off a lot of independent artists (from photographers to models too) as well as people who paid money to buy nothing but fraudulent work.... he's due to appear at Chiller end of the month. Although a lawsuit is really the best bet to get him to listen, the cast and crew of the film I'm working is thinking of taking a break from filming and making a visit to NJ.

I don't understand what's going on.....

please change the title to Rob Granito is a fraud

This Thread is pure Gold.

Artists need armed bodyguards? Is this guy mobbed up or something?

I have a legitimate question.

Rob Granito is an obvious fraud, a tracer of other people's work, and comic art huckster. He has been exposed. The creators in the community of comics that he has cheated, and even his customers, have turned against him. He will hopefully never enjoy a lofty table at a convention again, and his ability to earn dirty cash from his theft should be limited.

What about Greg Land? While he doesn't trace other artists like Granito did, or like Roger Cruz used to (Joe Mad personally asked him to stop in the 90's, and he did), he very clearly and obviously traces from photographs - often magazine covers, porn, and wrestling shots. Yet not only is he embraced and celebrated, but he continues to have a lofty position as lead artist on UNCANNY X-MEN and no end of cover work. No, his "tracings" are not as crude and obvious as Granito's, but only because he employs better technology and technique. So why is one fraud running from litigation and another is still considered an A-List talent? Is it because in comics, photographers' work is considered inferior to a penciler's work? You should die on a stake for tracing Dan Jurgens, but Photographer A. Random Guy from MAXIM or VIBE is fair game? Is DC simply more aggressive about that sort of thing than Marvel? While Greg Land didn't always trace from porn photos, that is what he is doing now, and has been doing for roughly 5-7 years. Is it accepted to be lazy if you once had your own style? Or is it just a Marvel/DC thing?

Rob Granito is a fraud. But if he is a fraud, then Greg Land is at least half a fraud. And is that really much better? Granito suckered unsuspecting convention audiences and WIZARD, but Land still commands fine paychecks from a company that probably rejects artists from Deviantart who don't rip off the latest issue of MAXIM or WWE.

i've been saying this for years. i guess it's okay as long as he doesn't rip off other people in the same industry it's okay

In Cup O'Joe they said they're not mad at Greg Land or anything because he can produce fast art and meet monthly dead lines due to his tracing. :p

Greg Land even traces and recycles his own work, the hack. And if Marvel encourage hack work, that says a lot about them.

Well Tom Brevoort also talked how Land is a huge comic fan and a nice guy, so yeah he seems like Liefeld. Supposingly a very kind person and a total geek, but a total hack at the same time.

haha i tried bringing Land up in the FB page and they don't even care.

I don't really get the big deal. Dude is just selling art at a table. How many DCAU peices are sold at cons that aren't drawn by Bruce Timm? Who cares.

Because he is claiming it's his own work and charging people for it.
