I bought a hoody a while back that had Dr Doom on it, but I may retire it now cause I don't want to discuss RDJ with people when I am out and about. So to the closet it goes
Someone like Mads who had a one off forgettable role, that would have been fine. But that's not what Marvel wants. They WANT people to connect Doom to Stark. It's 10000% intentionalIf Marvel were going to reuse an actor from before, they should've used Mads Mikelsen even though they've used him before in Dr Strange.
I've seen it a couple of times on social media lolSoooo,.. has anyone done the Oscar Issac saying "Somehow... Downey Returned" Joke already?
I dont see us being able to change the main event like what happened in the WWE with the Wrestlemania 40 main event.
OMG, RDJ IS TOTALLY THE ROCK IN THIS ANALOGY!!!!!
I love RDJ & all but I don't like the casting, as several of you have all said, it just reeks of desperation from Marvel & at a wild guess, likely at the cost of seeing one of the best villains Marvel has in their back pocket in his full glory.
I say that because even things as simple as his appearance, if you're bringing RDJ back into the fold, you can almost guarantee he'll be seen constantly maskless & scarless otherwise what's really the point? There's likely going to have encounters with characters that knew Tony so there will be no doubt a bunch of spiel about how they look similar. That's also assuming that this isn't some sort of Tony Stark variant from the multiverse, which is another reason not to like the multiverse, at least for me.
With that all being said, it could be an absolute master stroke casting. I'm sure RDJ's got the acting chops to pull of a very good VVD, the biggest obstacle is the fact he's already got such strong ties within the MCU as Tony Stark/Iron Man. They need to keep him unrecognisable IMO, have him attached in name only, rarely seen maskless & when he is, heavy scarring, accent, the whole thing.
But overall, not really a fan of the casting, would have preferred someone fresh & new to the MCU to take the role.
That would've been interesting, I think. There aren't enough people in the world who watched Runaways to know he was on that and would think he was making his triumphant return to the world of Marvel if that happened, I bet.I think at this point I would've preferred Julian McMahon or Toby Kebbell.
You are tearing me apart, Marvel!!!
Somewhere in the multiverse!![]()
The switcheroo could happen before Secret Wars. Some people have suggested that we'll get another Doom later down the line but how do you follow up RDJ just a few years later? The performance will no doubt be iconic and it will define the character for a generation of moviegoers. Now imagine asking any actor worth their salt to play the "real" Doom in the FF sequel.
After this casting, no one can ever say ABC actor can't be used because they were already in the MCU.Someone like Mads who had a one off forgettable role, that would have been fine. But that's not what Marvel wants. They WANT people to connect Doom to Stark. It's 10000% intentional
It ain't. They ain't pushing this casting only for there to be yet another Doom that will be the villain of that. If there was another Doom coming, they would have announced THEM! Not to mention at concept, it is needlessly complicated to build a movie around RDJ as Doom....only to then have him lose in favor of a LESS developed variant. This. Isn't. It's not risky but the fanbase is divided over it?Being creatively bankruptcy isn't a risk, lol! Your casual movie goer isn't going to care that they did the least interesting version of Doctor Doom that we could have gotten. All they will see is RDJ's name on a poster. It's laughably risk adverse
This move wasn't made for fans. It was made for casuals that stopped watching. Marvel doesn't care if we hate it.It's not risky but the fanbase is divided over it?
Wouldn't a safe bet be to do normal Doom instead of Iron Doom?
Why would they announce the real Doom now? That's like giving away the ending to Infinity War.It ain't. Is this a trick question? Because they want nerds to make videos about it and hype the movie up. There isn't a successor coming. If you think there is, you're delusionalWhy would they announce the real Doom now? That's like giving away the ending to Infinity War.
Iron Doom's successor won't be a variant. He'll be the 616 Doom.
