Robert Downey Jr. Is Doom - "Same task, new mask"

I think some of your guys' optimistic expectations will inevitably not be met. Also, Doom's character to this day has not been faithfully adapted in any Fantastic Four movie (the Roger Corman one is like the closest, but that's not saying much), so the argument to defend the changing of his character does not work when he's already been dealt that card numerous times before. And not for the better.

And I'm sorry to say this, but given the MCU's output in the last few years, and the Russos' for that matter, I do not have trust that they will deliver.

But Thanos wasn't altered to a point of being unrecognizable like your argument about Taskmaster or other characters. He just didn't focus on Death. Which yes, is a significant change, but he was otherwise recognizably Thanos

In personality and motivations, he largely was.

Wasn't there a Jim Starlin Silver Surfer comic where Thanos explained to the SS why he was so obsessed with death, where he went into a lot of the same stuff MCU Thanos talked about (that death was necessary for life to flourish).

Of course it is. The MCU is all in on the multiverse, look alike variants, and so forth. Add to that the What if story of them body swapping, and the Russo Brothers saw they AI typing $$$$$$ over and over again.

The MCU is never gonna move on from the Infinity Saga...

Everything that has happened on the Sacred Timeline in the MCU is "part of the story." This means nothing. I'm still optimistic.

I haven't been following or reading this thread, so forgive me if these thoughts have been posted.
I'm guessing Dr doom is an F4 villain in their film? He has armor but not the classic look yet.
Galactus comes. Doom at first tries an alliance with him, but quickly discovers you can't reason with him. Galactus ignores him like we do a gnat.

So doom tries to help the F4 stop him, but galactus is unstoppable.
Reed and doom try to come up with a plan and discover the multiverse.
Reed and doom ( with doom objecting ) evacuate as meaning people as possible to the mcu universe and end up in the mcu modern time.
Doom looks identical to tony stark so the heroes in the mcu think it's him returned.
Doom quickly picks up on and learns this earth's modern tech and researches everything on stark and takes his persona.
He even looks at all the IM research and armor and makes his own suit. The classic Dr doom armor look.

He turns the heroes against the newly arrived F4, convincing them that their villains. All except strange. He senses something is off.

Earlier, Galactus had seen them escape to another multiverse Earth, and will pursue them later to feast on it. But right now, he's feasting on the remains of this earth.

Doom is probably just a short cameo role in First Steps. I can't imagine RDJ interacting with Galactus.

It's gonna be hard explaining why doom looks identical to tony stark. He must be a variant of stark or stark is of him?

There's no explanation needed. Deadpool thought Johnny was Cap in D&W, and when it wasn't him, all he said was "We thought we knew him." And everyone moved on.

Deadpool & Wolverine played that as a punchline. This will absolutely need an explanation.

I dont think it needs explained especially since Doom wears a mask, so we shouldn't see his face at all thus shouldn't be a problem. Issue is, the Russos already hinted at it being part of the movie. So....we are stuck with the stupid

I'm kind of buying into the idea that they'll say Doom swapped minds with a Tony Stark variant after appearing to get killed in a battle with the FF. Lets them do the gimmick of the RDJ casting while setting up an easy explanation for a recast down the line.

This just sounds so stupid to me, lol! I am not hating on you. But the notion that Doom has to make himself look like Stark for some reason in the plot as a concept just sounds dumb to me.

Just feels like every theory is about finding a way to a plot via RDJ’s face which is just innately convoluted imo.
Which for me, is wild for a villain who's entire gimmick is he is hideously scarred and has to wear a mask at all times

Touche lol.

RDJ should play Kirk Lazarus playing Doom

Go get yourself another Oscar, little fella

Please God let this NOT be accurate.
